well...... I will still support it because it's apes. As much as I hated Burton's p.o.s. I still went because it's apes. I fell asleep and ended up leaving halfway through the movie but I still went.
What bothers me is the "If it is not broken, don't fix it!" Theory. The ape appliances of the 60's was way ahead of it's time. I do not see any reason why they couldn't continue using that format now.
It will be interesting to see where this goes!

Once again they miss the point.:ugh_y: Those costumes and makeups ARE the attraction. And when people think about POTA, they think about that look and those story lines. CGI apes? Give me a break. Seeing an ape talk is not exactly a new idea. Heck we've got them sitting in convertibles on TV talking! But being able to see the classic apes again WOULD BE a fresh idea...especially in the Retro age. But I'm sure they won't look anything like them. The studios just don't get it.

One of the reasons I love King Kong (the original) and none of the new versions is because I like Kong looking NOT like a Gorilla.
I want my Kong looking and moving like a weird monster (original)
It's the same with POTA's
I hate apes ... They're boring.
I want my apes to be weird ape-human monsters -- aka the originals

I don't know, I am looking forward to it. I will withhold judgement on using CGI until I see the final product. I did not think Burton's version was that bad. not as good as the classics but good in it's own right

All this CGI stuff doesn't impress me. I don't wanna pay money to watch a video game.

We'll see Charlton Heston walking across a beach, seeing the Statue of Liberty, and going: "They've finally done it! They replaced it all by CG! You damn, dirty computer-addicts!!!!!"

^ Agreed with you and Mikey.
Who knows, it might be enjoyable. Cant be any worse than Giamatti dressed as a bloated orangutan or waves of bad CG apes, can it?

Why? Similar titles in totally unrelated genres. And, even as a big POTA fan, I'm betting Batman will do better at the box office.

Hollywood History:
Star Trek renamed Vengence of Khan to Wrath of Khan because Return of the Jedi was going to be named Revenge of the Jedi-which became Return of the Jedi in any case. Genre doesn't matter. Title is everything in Hollywood. This may yet play out with Rise of...

Weren't they both released in close proximity? I believe Apes is due out June 2011 and Batman not until 2012?
Either way, we'll need to wait to see.
