Hi,I'm a collector of Marvel comic character:The Incredible Hulk,I've got almost all comic books from start to almost 300 where I kinda lost interest...
I admire the work of Jack Kirby et Joe sinnott.
http://i329.photobucket.com/albums/l398/albarrettpics/bd/IMG_8397.jpg

I bought many comics when I was a kid and when I grew up,these were throw
away...now as an adult I wanted to have these back and started to collect them around 2 years ago...I only have a dozen or so numbers that I'm looking
to add as soon as I'll find a fair price...
Are-there any HULK comics collectors on MM?

I LOVE Jack Kirby's work and I think he did the best job with the Fantastic Four. I wish someone could make a Jack Kirby sculpt of the Thing. Now THAT would be ultra-cool!

Anything Peter David does is gold IMHO! Well, another Hulk lover around here! *reaches out hand* Nice to meet you!

My Hulk collection starts up just about where yours leaves off! As a kid, I began at Hulk 312 during the Secret Wars II crossover with Alpha Flight just before John Byrne jumped on board as writer/artist and continues to this day.

http://comicbookdb.com/graphics/comic_graphics/1/56/18567_20060325112606_large.jpg

My favourite eras are the Peter David/Dale Keown years and the short lived Paul Jenkins run where he picked up on the Multiple Personalities threads that David had laid down.

OH! 312! The actual "Origin" issue. Such a GREAT comic! I own 10 copies of this comic just for people to read when they ask about his origin. This one,#250, #300, #316-#320 #25 (the one where he LITERALLY knocks Abomination's block off) and World War Hulk are needed reads if you want to understand the Hulk. Jenkins is such a wonderful writer, the creator of my handle "The Sentry". Also giving Banner Lou Gherig's disease and having the Hulk's help save his life was such a great treat, you NEVER knew what Hulk you were going to get each month.

312 really did form the backbone of David's run. I have to say I was pretty shocked years later when I heard that Mantlo essentially plagiarised this story from Barry Windsor Smith's unpublished Hulk story.

It will be interesting to compare the two fully once Windsor Smith completes it as an original graphic novel called "The Monster"

http://www.barrywindsor-smith.com/images/mp24.gif

The other highlight of 312: Mike Mignola art! Although I have to say that Gerry Talaoc's scratchy inks don't fit Mignola's pencils very well.

The biggest disappointment of Jenkin's aborted run was that we never got to see the "Devil" Hulk subplot play out.

Marvel really does go back and forth editorially quite a bit when it comes to "Hulk Smash" versus the Multiple Personality Disorder Hulk.

I'm going to have to hunt down the BWS story, I SO LOVE HIS ART! (Remember I'm a HUGE Conan fan and issue #16 was the first comic I ever owned, even OVER a Hulk comic) I NEED THIS STORY WHEN IT COMES OUT!

Yeah, leave it to Marvel to jack up a good thing!

Hi,good to hear from ya...first of all,you may be right for the "deeper story line" but to me,it's the drawing of the character that bugs me...first,I'm from Quebec(canada)so when I was a kid I bought FRENCH versions of various MARVEL comics and my prefered was HULK;when I grew up I kinda lost interest in comic books for Girls&Cars...:licklips:

I noticed a change in the drawing of the Hulk around that period and decided to collect up to a certain period...I have number 246 which is the highest I own with 232 and 216...I have almost evrything up to 190.Just bought 173-174-177-184 on Ebay(I'm excited):juggleyes_y: Only a few more to complete

By the way,of course I collect all the "other" numbers where Hulk might appear as this Cap America 230...I've got many of those to get for my collection...my opinion is that an incomplete collection is more 'fun' than a complete one because you're always on the look out for that elusive book...
it's the pleasure of the hunt:grin:

Are those creatures from the Pre-Marvel Atlas Monster comics?

They were "featured" in early MARVEL stories but pre-Marvel,I can't say...they kinda recuperated them for that perticular number. This is one that I enjoy very much. Those "creatures" reminds me of "Creatures that roam the earth" if memory serve me well or something like that...anyway,nice indeed...

#131 Was something of a wild comic for me, I got to read this right after Ray (AcroRay) hooked me up with my Micronauts and in the comic Hulk played Micronauts with a little boy he had just saved. The kicker is the two he had were my 2 faves PLUS the 2 Ray helped me restore! See for yourself!!!!!!!!!

Coincidentally ran across this just now...
http://www.bleedingcool.com/2009/07/09/comics-we-just-cant-wait-for-but-have-to/

The hundred page Hulk graphic novel by Barry Windsor Smith for Marvel, that hit problems. So he took it to Vertigo, renamed as The Monster, then created another hundred pages without ending before Vertigo decided the project was unsustainable.

Well, after I'll get the dozen or so comic books to finish my collection up to 200...I might go for 300...(I already have 202 to 210 or so).

Actually, you have the bulk of the issues I need.

These are the actual Hulk comics I need just from his regular series alone.

122, 134-138, 142, 144-149, 154, 165, 171-175, 179.

Annuals are 3(I saw you have it smarty-pants!*grins*)and issue 8.

Not many I need now. I'm going to hunt for some of these when I go on my trip.

I do it a peice at a time, cause when I have them all, what would I get then?

Possibly start on Conan next.

It's what I did when I went to Culver City Ca to get Hulks, the shop didn't have many so I threw down a Benjamin for a FAT STACK of Conan's.

If you got any doubles you would wanna loose (and THAT GOES FOR EVERYONE!) Let me know, I would love to close these holes. Yes, that's from 102-474 Totally unbroken. Whoa, never thought I would see the day.

1 to 10 if I recall,got to check to be sure...as I said,I just bought 173-174-177-184 in one shot,I like it,it's the "shipping" cost that's expansive when you're in Canada(Quebec):googly:

As long as you got 181, the rest is easy...

I need about 15 more issues to complete my run from 1-6, Tales to Astonish, & 102-426...it's been a long time though since I bought or even looked for any issues...kinda waitin' for my son to get into that Phase of Comic Reading (Mature).

I'm old school though---Love Peter David as the Bard, but there is just something about the run from 102-200 that has that whole Frankenstein/Jeckyl & Hyde vibe that I dig so much about the character.

His anger wasn't sooo over-the-top the way it is now.

Anyway...Here are 2 Classic Covers from that Period that always resonnated with me:

...and the single story that gets me during that period is:

The Incredible Hulk is the best comic book ever! :2thumbsup:

I have every issue from #102 to the present. I'm only missing the original six issues and four or five Tales to Astonish. I don't have many of his appearances in other books though. I should work on getting those.

This is the first issue I remember getting as a kid --
http://farm1.static.flickr.com/178/406528915_b6435e65b5.jpg
My dad used to buy different comics and then give to me and my brother after he read them.

The most I ever paid for an issue of the Hulk is $40 for #181. That was about 15/20 years ago (it's in fine condition).

Yeah that famous 181...I bought a reprint ;but also 182&183 goes higher than the others(all that because of wolverine!)havingan original isn't a big thing for me,a reprint does the job sometimes for me,all I want is to be able to read the comic book.
I don't collect those for money but for my own pleasure, that's all...I don't intend to sell my collection one day.One of my very first number was the one where the Hulk comes face to face with the FF

Bruce Jones' run on The Hulk had a wonderful atmosphere of paranoia and an overdrawn conspiracy storyline that ran out of steam really really quickly.

But they had some really fun covers...

Any love for Byrne's truncated run?

I have to admit that it was kind of mindblowing for me to see how much destruction The Hulk could actually cause. I don't think anyone had ever depicted the Hulk's rampage as realistically as that before.
http://image2.milehighcomics.com/istore/images/fullsize/41319167562.316.GIF
I think The Ultimates really drew on this for inspiration.

It would have been interesting to see how Byrne himself was going to play out the separated Banner leading the Hulkbusters. Too bad he wasn't able to finish that storyline.

I'm not familiar with Byrne work...however I agree about the destruction the Hulk can cause...I mean he's driven by RAGE...like a very big polar bear or tiger loose...just imagine being in the path of such a creature;to me HE IS the most powerful of the Marvel universe.(To me I insist)I might go further than number 200 after reading all the comments here...:yeah:

Agreed! Hulk's always got the shaft if you ask me! I love the fact that his comics, merchandising, figures, and popularity have all gone up. He's just not some stupid green guy, he actually is the best thing Marvel has now, besides Thor.

Down with the haters!

Hail the Green King! :yeah:

Yeah, I got all the Hulk movies there are to get, Bixby, Banna, Norton, the complete cartoon series (Thanks Megomeet 2008:yes:) Hulk vs, Ultimate Avengers 1&2, New Avengers, and the latest Wolverine and the X-Men cartoon just for the Hulk episode. Yeah, I got as many as I can get, only thing I need now is the complete Incredible Hulk (Bixby and Ferrigno) series on DVD
Oh yeah, it is and I can't wait for the Avengers movie, if they say what is true Hulk becomes the main baddie in the end, just like the coimic! Also from what I hear Hulk supposed to make an appearance in Iron Man 2! When I was out west going to the comic shops people referred to Hulk as "The Great Green hope of Marvel", but now with this Disney buyout I really don't know what to expect. I hope they don't put him up in the bleachers with Roger Rabbit. :enraged:

Al, I resurrected your topic because I thought you and Sentry may like to see the youtube video of my collection. It is humongous. And, after this Christmas, it will have alot more cool additions!
