Kit Carson: Original Accessories and Known Repros
Loose Kit Carson

pants

Kit Carson's pants have been reproduced by Classic TV Toys. The reproduction pants are packaged with an opening and snap in the front. The originals don't have the "fly" design and the opening is in the back. The biggest difference is the material. The reproductions are made of a velvet type material where the originals are a simple heavy material. The reproductions also fit more loosely. They are unmarked.

shirt

Carson's shirt has also been reproduced by CTVT. The material the repro shirt is made of is similar to the original although not as bright an orange in color. The biggest differences in in the design. The original has cuffs, the repro does not. The fringe on the reproduction is larger than the original. The last major difference is the thread color. The reproduction has the same orange color thread as the orange of the shirt, but the original has a much lighter thread color. The repro is unmarked.

hat

Kit Carson wears a hat that can be found in the Action Jackson Western set. The hat has been reproduced by CTVT. The reproduction is darker in color, more brown where the original has an organish tint. The repro is a little rough around the brim, not as smooth as the original and is marked CTV on the underside of the brim.

Holster

holster

Kit's holster can also be found in the AJ Western set. It has been reproduced by CTVT and is the same brown as the hat, where the original has the orangish tint the original hat has. You'll find some flashing on the repro belt and is it marked CTV on the back. Tim Mee also reproduced the holster during the Mego era. This is a vintage piece and made from the Mego molds. It is idential in all ways except in color. The Tim Mee hoslter is a dark brown.

Pistol

pistol

Kit Carson has the same pistol as the rest of the Willer gang and many of the Western characters. The pistol has been reproduced by CTVT. The detail on the reproduction isn't quite as sharp as on the original and flashing is evident. Some are marked CTV on the gun grip and some are unmarked. Tim Mee reproduced the pistol. This is a vintage piece, reproduced during the Mego era. Same mold, just in gray instead of chrome. Otherwise it's identical.

boots

The western boot worn by Kit can be found on Buffalo Bill from the Western Line. Western AJ also has these boots, but they are a lighter, caramel color brown. They have been reproduced by CTVT although it get's a little weird. The Tex Willer characters and Buffalo Bill wear the same brown colored boots. For some reason when CTVT reproduced these, they created different colors. The reproductions found on the Willer guys are a much darker brown than the original's. A much closer color can be found on the Buffalo Bill reproduction. Both colors are a little more narrow and a little taller. There is flashing evident on the reproductions and they are unmarked.

heads

Buffalo Bill from the Western line, King Arthur from the Knights line and Kit Carson from the Willer line all share the same head sculpt with a different paint job. Any of these original heads could be repainted as any other, although Kit being the more rare figure it is more likely that one of the other heads would be repainted as Kit than the other way around. All three versions of this head have been reproduced by CTVT. The repro heads are softer in material and all have higher eyebrows and bigger eyes painted on them. The repro's in all forms are unmarked. Tim Mee also reproduced the Buffalo Bill head during the Mego era. It is a vintage piece and made from the same molds. The material is a little softer, but otherwise it's pretty identical. The only other difference is Tim Mee put white dots in the eyes.
