Planet of the Apes Customs by Anthony McElveen Anthony's customs are one of a kind made from available materials. Anthony is a HUGE POTA fan and his choice of such obscure characters and variations reflects this obsession. He supplied his own descriptions.
Aldo (From Battle for the Planet of the Apes I removed all of the paint from his head, then painted the face gloss black and added the eyes and teeth. The collars for Aldo and Urko came from extra Urko tunics and are attached to standard soldier ape tunics with vinyl adhesive.
Kolp (Severn Darden) from Battle for the Planet of the Apes. Made from: Blackbeard's head (repainted), AJ secret agent pants and shirt, Fonzie jacket, CHiPs boots and hands, AJ Navy binoculars, Excel Kojak holster and pistol, Lion Rock pilot goggles, homemade skullcap.
URKO I found some vinyl fabric that's perfect for the gorilla uniforms. When I figure out how to heat press designs into it, I'll redo the gloves for Aldo and Urko to give them armor plates.
Aldo (from Conquest of the Planet of the Apes) I just painted a regular soldier ape face gloss black and added a strap to his rifle. The suit is the rare Amigo jumpsuit. Really.
Zaius I didn't really want to do figures from the book, but, Zaius was just too easy to pass up. Here's the description from Planet of the Apes by Pierre Boulle: He was an orangutan, the first I had seen on the planet Soror. He was shorter than the gorillas and slightly round-shouldered. His arms were relatively longer so that he often touched the ground with his hands as he walked, which the other apes did only rarely. He thus gave me the odd impression of using a couple of walking sticks. His head adorned with long coarse hair and sunk between his shoulders, he looked like a venerable and solemn old pontiff. He was also dressed quite differently from the others, in a long black frock coat with a red star in the buttonhole and black-and-white-striped trousers, both somewhat dusty. |
