x-men first class - no spoilers

saw it tonight -no costumes (ok, we did all were light blue shirts and X badges)

i liked it alot but it wanders some, the Angel character makes no sense and it is rushed storytelling.

it is a fun movie and cool comic geek out but not great

not as good as x-me or X2 - no better or worse than Wolverine or Last Stand.

Would it be fair to say then that it is worth not spending the movie theatre prices to see for a family of five (meaning me) and waiting for the dvd?

I loved it!! I'm going to see it again tomorrow.

I still like X2 better but it comes in second right after.

I said it was 4 stars but A- works too. The film is long-yes. But there are a lot of characters to work with. I didn't find it dragged at all. If you have doubts -go see it. Catch a matinee if you don't want to spend a lot but I think it's worth seeing and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

The film is wayyyyy better than X3. I think it's at least as good as X2-maybe better than X2 on some levels. I didn't see the Wolverine film-have no intention of ever seeing Wolverine film. Better than FF and FF-Rise of the Silver Surfer. Better than Batman Begins.

^I wouldn't bother with Wolverine Origins if I were you. Unless you want to see a train wreck. Which it was.

I liked First Class so much I was dreaming about it last night lol. It's been awhile since I came out of a movie so thrilled as that.

I saw it today and thought it was TOTALLY X-CELLENT! This a well cast and well constructed Movie...I'd give it 5 stars! This is mostly Magnito's story and his character is very well developed...Michael Fassbender now owns the roll completely and steals the show! James McAvoy is equally great and their friendship gives the movie depth and propels the story.
I wouldn't say it was slow at all, because it had me on my on the edge of my seat waiting for what was coming next. Don't wait for the DVD...go see it in the theater NOW!

Even my Wife loved it and she's not into comic book movies. Her favorite character was Magnito.

I would put it in my top 7 or so comic movies. As far as the X-Men franchise, it's not as good as X2 but better than the other movies. A few moments seem forced but it is a fun, good movie.

There's no Way, I could imagine this Flick Being Better than Wolverine.

Besides that Fact that All the characters are completely Screwed Up in All the X-Men Movies ... Atleast Wolverine was somewhat sorta Close.

Just got back from seeing this. Excellent film! Best in the series. This was the "Dark Knight" of the X-Men franchise in terms of script treatment and casting. Just a great film. But I will tell you, as I was watching this brilliant story unfold, it was apparent it was written for those who wanted story and less about cookie cutter mindless action. The latter is not here. This movie is heavy in character back story and sets the stage for why Magneto and Professor X develop philosophical differences regarding their mutation. It's an engaging film from start to finish. And I just wanted to scream when I remember this director was in the running when X-Men 3 was on the table and the discussion arose about the Dark Phoenix saga. My God. What he could have done with that. For those who have not seen this film yet, ignore the trailers. If it seems vanilla and uninteresting, trust me when I tell you it is NOT. It's an intelligent film filled with great story, great acting, and breaths new life into the X-Men franchise which I have personally always enjoyed. This is a new standard for the series. All films in this genre should be made like this.

BK, Superman 3 and Batman and Robin were better than Wolverine. That movie was a trainwreck along with X3.

These X films seem to have wildly differing views on what is best and what is worst. It may be that each addresses a certain audience and strikes a chord with them while leaving others bewildered.

I think it is a franchise best left to allow folks to like the one they like and not question it.

I wonder if any 2 people here would put them in the same order?

Me (with scores to give perspective):

                              X-Men 9
                              X2 9
                              Last Stand 8.5
                              First Class 8
                              Wolverine 7.5
and just for fun -Generation X TV movie 5

I also find it amazing that we collectively rip apart movies that bring to life characters that span decades and have revisions in stories frequently. they are all flawed but really all offer something - best example Batman and Robin that most of us deplore but kids everywhere seem to love - and I am sure there are a couple Jeep Swanson (RIP) fans out there.
