    Weird Ledy Batman Head

Thought I lost this but found it cleaning up today, turns out I had the AJ helmet on it. Anybody else seen one like this before? It's so dark, it's almost like Adam West's cowl in a way.

Are you sure that isn't from the same people who brought us the horrid Kirk knock-off you had?

and it's not just painted by someone?
I've never seen such a beast in LedyLand.

Maybe I'm just feeling extra skeptical tonight, but that GL Ledy head has always looked like a knockoff to me....a rEALLLY good knockoff

Yeah there's always some doubt on the GL there for sure, never denied that. I'd liken both of them more to knock offs than customs though, really good paint jobs.

First time I've seen a Ledy Batman head up so close. Looks worlds better than the molded cowl Mego...ears are a bit short, but way better otherwise.

From the nature of the questioning I'm assuming black was not the normal color for these?

No, they are usually close to the colour of the Mego Batmans.

I've never seen a Ledy Bats with that colour. Very interesting.

and it's not just painted by someone?
The colour under the paint chips on the face is the same colour as the cowl, so the head does seem to be actually molded in that different colour.

True. The chin scuffs do reveal black paint underneath. Hmmmmmm

                    I guess it's theory-building time.

                    Ran out of blue paint?
                    An early dark knight omen?
Black was a base color on heads when blue gets applied? Quality control missed a Bathead without blue paint?

Never seen a black Ledy Bats before. How it got to be like that is anybody's guess

                          It's molded in black?

I would hazard a guess that perhaps it was one of the knockoffs that were rushed out circa '89 for the Tim Burton film (unless Lily Ledy or a South American company like BASA was still making Superheroes during that time-frame, in which case perhaps a prototype if it came with GL?).

I seem to recall that lots of "classic" Batman stuff resurfaced in black as licensed and bootleg product was rushed to market. Even Adam West era stuff like the short ear cowl Pez came back black.

This guy also comes to mind...

He was around all through the eighties in blue and gray before going black circa '89 and the nineties. Although he still sports "SuperPowers" on the packaging.

I really like the Black Cowl. It looks cool. I don't think we'll be finding any concrete answer any time soon. But then again you never know with the way things have been poping up

I'll post some better pictures tonight sometime of it. Looks molded in a dark blue but it's been a long time since I popped it off and looked at it closely. Maybe the neck plug is different, that would be a good tell.
