    top comic related movies

    US only not inflation adjusted
movies like Superman 1 and 2 are low in the list but when inflation is adjusted they are near the top. Batman (89) also moves up a bunch.
i did not create the list so don't go complaining about what is and what isn't on the list

    100,000,000 dollar makers:

obviously xmen will clear 100mil soon.

      Captain America

      Flash Gordon
Batman Forever (that's right - I really like this movie - stop lumping it in with Batman and Robin)
      Watchmen

      Really Liked
      Batman Returns
      Batman Begins
      Sin City
Daredevil (i know I am going against popular opinion here but I loved this)

      Batman (66)
      Incredible Hulk
      X-Men First Class
      X-Men Last Stand
      Spawn
      Blade

      liked

      Superman 3
Superman Returns (yes, i know this has LOTS of problems but it makes the list mainly for the action sequences)
      Jonah Hex

      still have some redeeming value:
      Green Lantern
      League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
      Mystery Men
      Steel

      Tank Girl
      Barb Wire
      Toxuc Avenger
      Swamp Thing
      Howard the Duck
Punisher (Jane) - if travolta wasn't in it it couldda been decent

      Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2
      TMNT
      The Crow City of Angels
      Punisher War Zone
      Judge Dredd
      Red Sonja

      not very good:
      Black Scorpion 2
300 (this just doesn't do it for me)
Fantastic Four (the Corman movie was better than this)
Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer
      The Spirit
      Spider-man 3
      Hulk
      Superman 4
      Green Hornet
      Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3
      Ghost World
      Supergirl
      Return of Swamp Thing

you can't force me to rewatch these BAD:
      Blade Trinity
      Elektra
      Catwoman
      Constantine

OK so I noticed actually forgot to include Superman 1 and 2 - how did that happen? (updated june 20) also added Green Lantern Swamp Thing Toxic Avenger and Superman and the mole men

Wow. There's actually some films that lost money but because of how they did worldwide, they saved their bacon.

Interesting data. A couple of those placings surprised me a little.

movies like Superman 1 and 2 are low in the list but when inflation is adjusted they are near the top.

Yeah, when lists of top box officer earners (across all genres) are adjusted for inflation, you get classics like Star Wars and Gone with the Wind still sitting at the top.

And crap like Cameron's Titanic is further down the list.

Titanic actually made so much money that it still sits near the top even after adjusted - for better or worse.

BK - you are not alone LOTS of people loved 300 - like i said -it just wasn't for me. blade trinity and wolverine have me a little afraid of green lantern since i really thought ryan reynolds was bad in both.

Box office and profitability are two different things completely. For movies like this you can't really check the reported cost against the box office to see how well they did like in the old days.

All the marketing and merchandising factors are not included here - and there is a lot of real money in that stuff.

Everyone keeps rolling their eyes and complaining because of remakes and shoddy adaptations - these are made because the people who finance movies are focused more on brand than anything else now.

The growing foreign market has totally changed how films get made as well - as ctc pointed out.

I thought 300 was AWESOME! SPARTA! I think for me at least....if the story is decent and it is true to the character....I am good with it. Daredevil was alright...thought Affleck was too tall for the character....I liked Superman Returns.....The Batman's were good solid films...and the most recent ones could stand alone as well acted even if they werent comic movies. I would rather see a well acted comic movie....than a cheesy one. Ironman....good solid actors....good script. I think that needs to continue for comic films to survive. Xmen first class was a solid film. Crap..I will see them all just to give them numbers so they keep making them and give me something to watch in the middle of the night when I cant sleep.....

Although I still liked Trinity...but because of Wesley Snipe's Blade character...he's a baddass.
