      You have great memory!

It was at the time for me too…but there are now statues that make the Space Jockey look like a little Hasbro toy. Statue companies are coming up with unbelievable stuff these days.

But I still have and love the Space Jockey maquette. I added 6-inch NECA figures, to mimic that famous ALIEN scene. Dallas, Kane, and Lambert.

      Stay tuned…

I sold everything over a decade ago... and started collecting again a little more than a year ago. I think had I continued collecting all those years ago I'd have the same problem many here are talking about. As it is everything I have is displayed, and I've set a rule for myself that if I can't display it I shouldn't own it. I say that but it hasn't slowed me because currently I have room. I have a plan to build some built in bookshelves in our family room that would allow me to expand even more... uh, in case you can't tell I'm going the opposite direction from purging.

It's also due to aging. Turning 60 isn't that far off for me and do I really want this much stuff as 70 and beyond? Plus now my father is really ailing, I have a great new grand nephew in my life( a lot will be saved for him) And so much stuff always comes out I am fatigued by it just a slump I guess at the moment.

that is definitely part of it. i look at the massive hoard of toys i have in closets, not being displayed and no plans to be displayed and I think, what if something happened to me? what would my wife and kids be stuck with. so it is time to let a lot of this stuff go to someone who will get new joy from owning it. as i did when i first snagged it. and it does not hurt to add some coin to the coffers

Another purge thing I have been doing is throwing some unwanted MIB items in Toys for Tots bins at Christmas time. And yes to above when I pass on I don't want to burden my nieces and nephews with all this stuff. Definitely the time to thin it out.

I remember shoveling out So. Much. Crap. when my mother in law died. And when my older brother died. And when my mother died. I began to notice a pattern and just really didn’t feel a need to have my kids go through that.

i have also done that. especially with late 90's/early 200's Star Wars toys. stuff doesn't sell on ebay and last time i was in selling mode i ended up dumping a bunch in the toys for tots box

There’s a family with 2 young boys who live next to my elderly parents. I took a box of Star Wars toys from the last 3 movies to my parents, and asked them to give it all to them. They checked with the kids grandparents, and neither the parents or the kids were interested in Star Wars. I have all of it back. What kind of world do we live in where you can’t give away $200 of Star Wars toys? Hahahaha. I would have been in my glory if someone offered me ANY toys when I was a kid.

The Star Wars toys made today are for collectors ,and adults, and not for kids . Star Wars, Batman movie figures , Star Trek, Classic Monsters and Super Heroes are adult collectables and a waste of money for parents. Someone bought me a Marx cowboy set
with a 12" Cowboy Jonny West with lots of guns (when I was a kid )and I hated it ,and never played with it .I tried gifting my nephews some Marvel figures when they were small but they wanted WWE figures like John Cena so my brother returned everthing

Well that’s the truth of the whole thread. What we like is kind of done. Over. Values are dropping as fast as our population.

Mego is still holding value, at least at this point. i think having new product from mego corp is helping keep the fandom alive. i am going to start selling vingate Gi Joe AT this week, we'll see how that goes

Yeah I agree it's not a bubble waiting to be popped like MOTU or star wars, megos are constantly the same price until a big win chimes in on a choice item.

Maybe the best pieces are holding value but the middle and lower range pieces which are the majority of pieces far less expensive than they were twenty years ago

When Mego puts out the classic 50th anniv Marvel figures it might also make the classic Mego Marvels drop in value . If they do a 50 th anniversary Fantastic 4 , and Thor, than I done buying classic Megos and only getting the New ones . The originals are way too marked up for the condition some of them are in on ebay.
