I hope they aren't cancelled as they look spectacular. Meanwhile, I hope this isn't discouraging for you and that you keep at it. The two Buck Rogers figures that were made are some of the finest Mego scale figures I've ever seen. Right up there with Emce's Universal Monsters. You definitely have the right abilities to make quality figures happen. -
So sorry to hear this news Craig. That first offering was a nice set. I have all three proudly on display. You have all my hopes.Leave a comment:

Craig - hope it works out. I had preorders for two sets.
My only suggestion for this and the future - you need to introduce hero variants in each of your subsequent waves. There's a reason successful mainstream lines do this - if there is no primary character, the new waves will always be a subset of purchasers of the first, and so-on. Had this wave had another Steve Austin figure variant (say with the Kenner-style logo), or another suit version (astronaut, khaki's) and maybe an "exposed" Bigfoot, then I bet you would have seen stronger pre-orders. I see this happen frequently, and while some collectors may claim to dislike this, there is a reason every wave of SW figures comes with a Luke, Vader, or Han Solo, and every Batman wave comes with a new Batman.Leave a comment:

You know, I'm actually starting to think that myself.
Honestly though I'm not worried about it and I still stand by my character selection. I seriously doubt that adding another Steve Austin to the mix would have made that big of a difference, if any. People would have just wanted that one figure and let the rest be peg warmers, which still would have resulted in the line being canceled.
But an implied suggestion (I thought) was to stagger the wave release of the plainer characters. Keep Rudy for Wave 3, or thereabouts.
Another move might have been packaging a plainer (non-Oscar character) like Rudy exclusively with a deluxe accessory (like a bionic repair station table). Then each of the 2 items (plainer character & accessory) kind of "justify the other".
enyawd brought up STAR WARS wave choices---and, even acknowledging the fact that this is STAR WARS we're talking about (quite the exception to the rule)---even a character like Tarkin (arguably his film's main antagonist) was never released during during the whole vintage run, apparently due to his age...and being lightsaberless (Kenner opting instead to make an amalgam of Tarkin and Death Star Troopers with their ageless DST figure).
Just some food for thought. It's all a learning experience.Leave a comment:

Thanks for getting at least three very well done figures in this line out there, Craig. Best wishes on the upcoming Action Man stuff.Leave a comment:

Wow, seriously sorry for U, its almost like U have a toy curse. I wasnt collecting these because of thier size, but still didnt stop me from appreciating the card art, and the style of the figure. U go out and release some amazing product, and it cant get passed the second round. Still kinda gutted about the "buck rogers" line, and definately narked off that we didnt get those "logans run" figures.

In my opinion, no matter how great these second series figures are (and they are great), I think you need to have at least one Steve Austin figure per wave to make this line work. I mean, he was the main protagonist of the show. I have several from the first wave and would love other versions of Steve in different outfits. This is by no means meant as a knock against Craig, just my unqualified opinion.Leave a comment:

As much as I want all of these, and I pre-ordered three sets, I can sort of understand why people think they are boring. I have never had the desire for a Rudy Wells figure, and though Oscar is awesome, I never owned the vintage figure as a kid, or an adult , because yeah, he's just kinda boring. I think the wave would have been a bit more well received if Mr. X's removable face was shown, or at least mentioned in the assortment descriptions, because nobody wants a Mr. X that just looks like a human. 7 Million Dollar Man is a cool character, but throw him in with three other plain guys, and well, you know.
I think if this wave had been..
Steve Austin (khakis or astronaut)
Oscar
Mr. X
Fembot
..it would have been much more well received.
Then a third series with
Steve Austin (khakis or astronaut)
7 Million $ Man
Rudy Wells
Bionic Bigfoot (variant, battle damaged or something)
But I love these figures, and would buy any and all you make.Last edited by Remco Monster; Jun 22, '14, 6:52 PM.Leave a comment:

I'm as shocked and disappointed as anyone about how poorly this second wave has been received. I've had people complaining that the figures in the second wave were too boring. Oscar Goldman and Rudy Wells are two of the main characters, the 7 Million Dollar Man and Mr X. were both fan favorites. I guess I'm in the minority but I don't think those are boring characters.Leave a comment:

Thanks for the compliments and the kind words, they're greatly appreciated.
I'm as shocked and disappointed as anyone about how poorly this second wave has been received. The first wave did great, and the figures were almost double the price of the wave 2 figures. Regardless of why this has happened, it's not going to kill my enthusiasm for making action figures. I've got more cool projects in the works, some of which I'm doing on my own and some I'm doing with Cast-A-Way Toys.

Craig, any chance of maybe offering a two-pack consisting of Oscar and the planned khaki Steve Austin? I think the anchor of another Steve might boost interest.
Basically, I'm just trying to get khaki Steve made!Leave a comment:
