Your son's excitement is what it's all about. Sorry about the REPO mistake. I wrote that quick while at work. -
I hear and understand what you say and can stand beside you on this point,txteach-megos are what got me going at 7 years old. I have fond memories of megos and playing with them. With nothing new coming out by EMCE I do not have the same feelings I had about megos with these figures.
However; My son is six years old and to him these are brand new.He associates them to my MEGOs and therefor thinks of them as new MEGOs.I have explained to him that these are copies of MEGOs made by EMCE toys and he still calls them MEGOs(or my guys;as in,Hey dad have you seen where my guys are?).Maybe he always will, only time will tell?
For me I can relive my memories through him as he gets his figures.
It actually is pretty cool watching him play with the same toys I had as a child and watching him use his "IMAGINATION".
So if I have called them MEGOs by mistake,I apologize to the hardcores.
I do try to make sure I give credit to EMCE.for what it's worth to me they are different yet still a part of the MEGO dream.
I to would love to see something new to relive that true feeling of excitement
as I said before I am happy watching my son get excited opening his new figures.
Right now my hopes lie with EMCE and castaway to bring out new figures...

No offense to anyone but these are NOT megos. I have heard these repos referred to as megos a few times now. I, like everyone else here like what I see but megos are what got me going at 7 years old. I have fond memories of megos and playing with them. With nothing new coming out by EMCE I do not have the same feelings I had about megos with these figures. They are copies of a figure. If we somehow see something new maybe it will capture the excitement I had with mego.Leave a comment:

I am FINALLY going to have my army of type-2 Soldier Apes….
I hope f.y.e. keeps stocking them ! ! ! !
Who would have ever foreseen that 2008 would be the Year of Mego ?Leave a comment:

The soldier looks to me like an original swapped on to a Doc body, and the Cornelius looks all original to me. The gloves look like handmade repros. I'm sure Doc will correct me if I'm wrong.
I agree with the other poster on the mitts. Cuff the sleeves for a better look and save a little on production costs. One of the great advantages to a Doc body is that the hands can actually grip, why negate that with mitts?Leave a comment:

I also HATE the Gloved version! But Hey...nothing a pair of Scissors won't fix, and some Fabric Glue!
But I sure hope they have Hairy Hand's underneath those Gloves!??

Yeah, I'm not too keen on the gloves. I would prefer the "cuffed" look myself but I understand the idea behind being retro.Leave a comment:

My fellow brother and sister collectors, we have entered a new GOLDEN era of action figures. This is freakin' fantastic!!!! We have Mego Trek figures out right now; Apes coming this summer; and Captain Action sometime this spring. Life is GOOD!!! What could be next? Is it truly impossible to see the World's Greatest Heroes return? If this line continues to be successful, I think ANYTHING is possible. Wow...

After all these years the eyebrows on the apes still bug me. Not going to stop me from getting a set mind you. But it still looks odd.
[Edit]
I just wanted to clarify. I'm not complaining that the new ones have eyebrows. I just always found it odd Mego gave them eyebrows in the first place.Last edited by Werewolf; Jan 21, '08, 6:16 PM.Leave a comment:
