I can't wait to get em! I love my old Spock, but it's time for him to rest! I'll do with him I did with my Klingon, open him up and place him with the other loose Megos, and place the old-school version resting nice in a Doc Mego bubble card!

Maybe Paul can check back here with us and let us know how the sales/interest are going with Spock and the Andorian. I'm curious to see if momentum is building in the franchise.Leave a comment:

I dont care if Scotty is wearing a Hawiian shirt and comes with a ukelele, just keep 'em coming Paul!!
...Any chance you can let the cat out of the bag and enlighten us on the future of the Trek line, as you previously alluded to in a past post?Leave a comment:

Well, I got mine today. Enough praise cannot be heaped on Paul for what he is doing. He's earned much in the world of Mego and its history. These are excellent (I haven't opened them, but I doubt I have two left hands). Now, I need to get on to Starlog and see if the Romulans and McCoys are on preorder yet.
I wonder what else we can expect in the future! Wouldn't Space 1999 be nice, and hmmm Logan's Run?

I like the clamshells. As a collector who rarely leaves cool toys MOC but obsessively preserves the packaging, they're perfect for me. And they're a much more efficient design than the shells Hasbro has been using for their Star Wars retro-vintage line-- I love that the blister is built in.
I'm completely satisfied with my Andorian, and can't wait to own a Romulan.
Now let us never speak of pink shirts again!

The Andorian is also visibly different. His tunic is shiny looking
compared to the original. The belts a tad different and his head paint while VERY close is still visibly different when compared to the original.
Kudos to you guys for making these just different enough from the originals
to consider them a variation rather than a direct replacement that would challenge the collectability of of all the real ones out there.
But if you don't have $300-400 to spend on the real thing, this will do nicely.
I will keep buying these to supplement my real collection as you put them out guys...even if Scotty's shirt is...dare I say it...salmon pink(yeeccchh!)

While I haven't received mine yet, I do have faith in Paul to do it all right. However, from the pics I noticed they are still in the clam shells. I really hope that they go to carded figures again. Those we want to rip open we rip open; those we want to keep on card, we keep on card. It makes life so much simpler, and the figs so much more Mego.

Yes...I agree! And I was really hoping for the Alien Landscape,
on the Alien Cards.

If Scotty shirt is hot pink, I'm flying to China personally to knock some heads together.
I can live with a tan Kirk, and while I'm not happy about the silver bands on Spock
and McCoy at least they match - but the chief engineer of the Enterprise is not
going to wear a pink shirt (not that there's anything wrong with that).Leave a comment:

I would venture that it was always far less apparent in the Star Trek line. I have vintage Klingon tunics with varying levels of texture on the front and different-colored linings on the inside, but I've never seen a sky-blue Spock/Bones shirt.Leave a comment:

Did you know that Mego was actually notorious for changing colors and even material types frequently?A quick photo comparison:
The color of the shirt, however, is distinctly lighter than the Mego version; the difference is more apparent in person than in this pic. I noticed the same thing with EMCE Kirk's canary-yellow jersey-- if this trend continues, and they get to do Scotty, he'll be wearing hot pink.
.
It is most apparent in Green Arrows costume and Batman's cape.Leave a comment:

Is it just me or are the aliens a little bit taller then they were originally? and so far the only thing (and this is being a bit nit picky) that bothers me a bit is the insignia on the crew members its way bigger then the originals and looks more like a letter A then the curved and smaller original insignias.Last edited by Wise4671; Jan 4, '08, 10:54 PM.Leave a comment:

A quick photo comparison:

That's my own childhood Spock on the left, first found under the tree in 1978. He's packing a repaired original tricorder and an old-school Dr. Mego phaser.
I gotta say, EMCE nailed the sculpt and paint on the head. My fig is darker complected but that could just be twenty-nine years of grime. The color of the shirt, however, is distinctly lighter than the Mego version; the difference is more apparent in person than in this pic. I noticed the same thing with EMCE Kirk's canary-yellow jersey-- if this trend continues, and they get to do Scotty, he'll be wearing hot pink.
More seriously, an issue I hope gets addressed on future releases is the hands. On my new Kirk, Spock and Klingon, the thumb is too close to the palm for a phaser to be held upright. Not a problem for the Andorian, of course! Wow, those Mego gloves really send me back...
Okay, that's enough for a first post. Doc, I may nitpick but you and your collaborators have already achieved the impossible. Improving on that would merely be a bonus.Leave a comment:

Silver stripes are Ok, if Gold ones do come out later. I will have to get both, of course. No Romulans with silver helmets, please.
