If you look at the EMCE Dracula closely he does have a Lugosi likeness to him. Maybe a young Lugosi. He is best looking 8 inch cloth clothed dracula to date in my opinion.

That's really interesting. Did AHI purchase the rights to their other monsters, or did they rip them off Aurora models as well? I wonder if Aurora allowed AHI to do this, and if not, why they didn't fight it.

AHI ripped off the sculpts of the Aurora models for their Universal Monsters figures. The sculpt was intended to be Lugosi. When the Aurora Dracula model is reissued they now have to get license from Bela Jr or use a new head sculpt.

I always thought the AHI Dracula had a bit of Barnabas Collins in it, Jonathan Frid had same sort of facial structure, if not the hair do.

got mine today at TRU, the whole set is really cool. Love the simple retro vibe of the paint jobs. Has it been revealed who did what on them? Sculpting costuming, etc?

Though the likeness isn't exact, it seems to me to look fairly close to Lugosi- even with the chin dimple. The later AHI Dracula sculpts seem to look even more like Lugosi than the early version sculpt. If the AHI figure were produced today, do you think the Lugosi estate (or his son) would consider the sculpt to be too close to his likeness?

i like the pointed ears,although he kind of looks like a grown up eddie munster.i know eddie was suppose to be a little werewolf or vampire or ..(i dont know what the hell)his pop was a franky.but the figure is really cool. monster mash time in retro mego world.

Lugosi is THE definitive Dracula, in my opinion. That being said, this is a really nice figure and is close enough to Lugosi for me. The figure has that 70s retro vibe that you obviously know who the figure is supposed to be even though it's not quite Lugosi. It's still obviously the Universal Dracula and not some generic vampire.
