We've been discussing in a purely hypothethetical sense if someone else could continue the tradition after Mattel. I don't think MM members know the contract details between Mattel & DC Comics, but I know when I put in my 2 cents worth I was assuming the WB/DC Comics license with Mattel would have expired either by date or the contract was null and voided on account of no new figures being made after so much time or some such thing. I don't think anyone would expect Mattel to remain in the game and share their license as it would be beneficial to just deal with the licensee directly. But it's nice to imagine if, say, Mattel was out of the picture if Emce (or dare I say in conjuction with BBP?) could approach Mattel and ask for their blessing or approval on making the head sculpts that were never made. From then on I'd expect Emce to go their own way and with DC...offer a relaunch/reboot (Oh, wait those are the DC Comics, coming out later on, sorry.)

I think this is a fantasy more than a possibility. If EMCE had the opportunity to do this, we would've never seen them made by Mattel to begin with.

    Yeah!

I think DC Direct should take the line over since they already have permission to produce DC characters.

Would be cool if someone else did carry the line. I don't care who.

Well, I for one wouldn't be totally opposed to that. At least I know I would be getting a quality product from someone who not only cares, but really knows what they're doing,
as long as it was Doc/Emce.
Would be interesting if somehow...some sort of 'Joint Venture' might work out for this...
like an EMCE/CASTAWAY/ZIKA/ DIAMOND SELECT release, to help defray the cost somehow.
Probably very unlikely. I'm not even sure how logistically that could even work, but it would be...interesting.
Of course, we are talking about THE WORLD's GREATEST SUPERHEROES, the Mego grand-daddy that started all this.

If this happened then the figures would cost 35.00 each or more. Mattel does smaller number's for collector's but they charge alot more for them. I could see them do exclusives or some other license, IF and I say IF collector's of these were willing to pay more $$$$ as other's have said money talks.

Mattel has the license and they could license to someone else but I doubt they will. I wish they would.

I would love to see Doc and EMCE make RAs!
And make a 'laughing stock' out of Mattel?
    Would love that too!

The licensing cost for DC would be steep. Plus the last thing Mattel would want to do is sell the rights to the 8" license and have someone else, especially a smaller toy company, produce a line that exceeded their sales. It would make them a laughing stock in some circles. No one but Mattel knows how the Matty exclusives really sold but if they did sell out I can't see why they wouldn't continue producing Matty exclusives. To date we haven't seen any resales since GA so either they sold out or are sitting on pallets at a warehouse somewhere, which if the line was totally wiped for good they would probably just dump to regain capital.

It would be terrific if it were possible for DC Direct to pick up the ball on this one.

Although my understanding is that thing have been shifting around at DC Direct, so who knows what the future is there.

I think if this were remotely possible, Paul and Joe wouldn't have had to team up w/ Mattel in the first place.

I'm talking out of my rear on this because this is simply an opinion, but I'd think it'd be entirely possible. And wonderful, I might add. Whether or not Emce would pursue this would most likely be if their zombie products are successful and affords them the opportunity to license it from DC. Remember how Batman the animated series was at Hasbro and Mattel carried the torch and made same scale figures or how Toy Biz had the Marvel Legends line and then Hasbro maintained the Lengends line (despite poor quality in the beginning)? So I imagine it could work. Really depends on DC contracts ending at Mattel and Emce's interest, right?
