It's obvious price point is a major factor.

I believe (and I could be wrong) that most people are not viewing these figures as $20 figures. They are viewing them as $80 to $100 for all four because nobody really wants to buy just one. They want to collect 'em all.

    It's not $20 that is a turn-off, it's almost $100 including shipping that's a turn-off.

You can look at any of the other lines that are out: Lost, Twilight Zone, Venture Bros, even DC Universe figs and most consumers are only going to get certain figures in that series. But, with Retro WGSH, we look at each Wave of four/five figures and we want to buy them all together at once and when you do that your $20 quickly turns into $80 plus shipping real fast. And for many it is really hard to part with close to $100 these days.

IMO $20 is not too much for these figures. It's just that when a new Wave comes out we want them all at the same time and that CUMULATIVE price tag is what is hard to swallow.

Just my opinion on this whole debate.

Then again original Megos were loose in the waist area. But that didn't stop them from posing well. Wave 3 performs just as well. I think that is just the nature of having a strung body on these figures. They will have some kind of give depending on the design. Having that bracket in the waist eliminates the obvious problem and, as far as I can see, allows them to do everything a Mego can do. My Flash can hold any length of stride in a run pose, so it's not like there are limitations to his posing or play ability. I don't know what kind of expectation is required beyond that. Perhaps if you were going to use him as a bookend, that might present a problem.
All I can say is that if you hold the Flash that my son has by the head and slightly move him his legs swing alot and are very loose. I know what a Mego body feels like and how they move (would'nt be on here if I at least did'nt know that much) and even though Mattel is fixing some of the problems there is still a problem with the loose legs. I'm not saying I don't like the Retro Hero's I have them all and so do my kids. I am saying this is what I would like to see fixed.

Well, body problems aside, in my opnion there's one way these babies are worth $20 easy (and will always be worth at least that much)...don't open them. Problem solved if value for money is such a chronic concern for some people with these Retro Heroes. If you are at TRU exclusively shopping for toys for your kids and you buy a Retro Hero for $20 and it doesn't meet your expectations, return it for store credit and then simply overlook the line next time you toy shop for the little ones. As far as collectors go, for whom I believe this line is really geared towards (ie: limited avilability at retail and the $20 price tag); if you collect loose, find a way to get them to stand (doll stand or whatever) and pose them on a shelf and leave them alone, after all Barbies don't stand on their own either yet they are a staple as far as childrens' toys go. If you collect MOC, then you always know your $20 isn't gone or "wasted."

Ok I can see where the "bends" got fixed but the legs are still so very loose.

What is the "fix" exactly (for wave 3).. and other waves if different? Anyone know?

    * Wise4671, could you shoot some pictures of the mechanics within the torso/waist area of either figure you have and post here? I'm curious what updates, if any, have been made.

(They will need to be partially unclothed... but that's OK, we're all certified toy scrubs here.)

    Thanks and regards,

    Geoff

Totally a agree...they are still a good deal $19.99, for that reason alone.

The way these figures look at $10.00 I think it is too much. Some people don't even make $10.00 an hour so you mean to say you have to work one hour to pay for one of these crappy looking figures. I would rather work a whole day and buy a great looking Hot toys figure then work an hour to pay for one Mattel retro junk.

I have no issue at all with the company. My question was for the people who want to buy New broken stuff. Like it was pointed out it whoevers money they can do with it what they want. I can sell you some broken things and I'll even do it cheaper then the store

I agree. This isn't the Mattel Complant Department. Go to Matty.com. The whining here really does get old post after post after post.

You are comparing a (normally) handmade, made-to-order item to a mass-produced figure from a MAJOR toy company.
Neither does the "little crappy figures cost $7...blahblahblah".
Did you ever consider THOSE figures are OVERPRICED as well??
People have already made up their minds and no amount of arguing, proof or persuasion will change that view.
In the end it boils down to some people have more spending money than others and $20 to a guy living in a big house with 2 brand new cars in the garage and making $100,000+ a year is a lot less money than it is to a guy struggling to pay the bills every month and only has a limited amount to spend on toys. That doesn't mean the guy with less money has any less love for the hobby. Maybe he just wishes the toys were a little more affordable so he could enjoy them along with the "big boys" too.
I don't understand the condemnation of those who point out the flaws in these figures and give reasons why they should cost less than they do.
I'm not against capitalism nor a company making a buck and succeeding. I'm not against the retro line either. I'm against overcharging for a product that doesn't live up to it's price tag and could have a lot more market penetration if the product were less exclusive to one store.

I don't make anywhere near $100,000 a year...so your argument is pointless. I buy WHAT I LIKE with whatever "ME" money I have left after bills. I like the fact that the Retro Action figures can let me kitbash and make a GL Mego or a Flash or a Luthor figure without having to spend at least $50 for a custom that has a resin head.

We all know the Retro figures have issues...it's been DONE TO DEATH on the museum. If the figures are that flawed and are too rich for your liking...DON'T BUY THEM. It's that simple...but to complain the same crap over and over again is just pointless. Just DON'T BUY THE FIGURES.

Have you filed any complaints with Mattel about the flaws in the figure? If it bothers you THAT MUCH then file a complaint...and while you're at it see if you can get the price lowered. Get my point...complaining here doesn't really DO anything. Maybe file a complaint with the BBB if you feel that you've been wronged in some way by Mattel having made such crappy figures. I really don't know what else there is that anyone can do that will make you happy. Good Luck.
