I can't discuss any details. When everything is over, I will write a book
    and tell all.

Trust me - we are not idle.

As for oven mitts - I always hated them because it kept Batman from
holding a rope or a batarang. Even Mr. Fantastic's plastic gloves
prevent him from holding the Ultimate Nullifier!

I would think that if Hasbro made 8" retro style figures of not just Marvel heroes, but Star Wars and GI Joe as well that the risk would be smaller for them, after all if one line did not sell well the bodies could be used for the other lines, and I can't imagine that 8" Star Wars wouldn't sell, even Hasbro was surprised that the Star Wars lines stayed as strong as they did after Episode III had come and gone and there were no new movies on the horizon.

Not for the direct Market via Diamond. Note the Marvel Select figures are not Hasbro.

I'm sure Hasbro is watching this very closely. They've been at the trade shows and cons and are very aware of this revival. Just keep in mind, even if they decided to do this line tomorrow morning, it would be a minimum of 9-12 months before anything could get into retail, and the 1/9 market door might have already started to close.

I'd love to see an 8-inch Cap America, Falcon, Hawkeye, Black Panther and otther Marvel dudes. I just don't know if they'll jump into the pool this late in the game.

Well I'm hoping that people like us are showing Hasbro that it wouldn't be a waste of time or money. How cool would it be to see a Cap with red gloves,(or at lease res hands and the bottom part of his arm fabric give the appearance of gloves !!! And while we are talking about gloves, does anyone else out there wish they would've had the old school oven mitt gloves ?!? oh well, we can't win 'em all !!! But at least we finally have a darn good mego like figure after all these years!!! FYI: my brother bought his grandson a retro superman and of course he opened it. But for those of you who don't know yet, supes does have the yellow "S" on the back of his cape!! well guys, there is strenght in numbers. I say we email hasbro into submission and tell them we want marvel figures too!!! United we stand!!

This brings up an interesting point. It makes me ask the question: does Doc Mego actually hold the patent on the Mego-like bodies he has produced? Does he own the patent on the ones Mattel is cranking out? If so, then would Hasbro (or some such company) be willing to make a deal with him to do similar Mego-like characters that Mattel is doing right now? And the second question is, is Doc Mego under contract with Mattel for "X" amount of time NOT to do this kind of deal with any competing company?

Personally, I'm sick of the *almost* Mego style character attempts over the years... The 9-inch ones like FC and more recently SM Origins... admirable attempts but not close enough. I would love to see some new 8-inch Marvel Mego type figures that fall in line EXACTLY like the DC ones from Mattel. I've complained about price but I really do like how these have been produced!

Obviously the prospect of Hasbro doing Marvel Mego-style the same way as Mattel would hinge on the success of these DC Retro-Action figures. But I am really curious. Maybe Doc Mego himself would be willing to explain such a scenario to us...?

They did a fantastic job on their 9" DC Superheroes in 1999.
The bodies were excellent, and had extreme articulation.
In fact, if I remember correctly, THIS figure was only $15.00!!!
It would be well worth $20.00, and it was a very high quality figure.
They could just reproduce the body in 8" size for Marvel.
    It would be awesome!

Could be because they already did Marvel figures using this same body in 9" scale and they didn't sell well at all. Now granted they aren't as Mego like as the Retro figures, but I'm still guessing that's part of the hesitation.

I would be great if Marvel got on board but I think we have a better chance with Star Wars. A line of Star Wars like megos would keep the format alive for a very long time. I remember the old clumsy 12 inch line from 1977, Star Wars deserves better, and the 8 inch figure format would make some terrific Star Wars toys, especilly if the philosphy was to make them as if they would have been made when the movies first came out -mid-seventies and early eighties.

Haven't heard a thing from my usual sources, but who knows? All up to Hasbro right now, as they hold the master Marvel license, and if they think a retro 8" line is economically viable for them.

Still, it would be sweet to get some 8" X-Men at long last, as well as some villains. Maybe some day.

    Where are the rumors circulating?

All I've heard are my own fantasies about Hasbro putting out 8" megoesque Marvel heroes and Star Wars echoing in my head.
