The standing part in and of itself is an accomplishment. My Aquaman's hips jut forward no matter what I do, and bow legged Bats never had a chance of standing on his own.

I don't delude myself into thinking the original Megos were any better either. I played with the originals too when I was a kid, and I remember knees and elbows that broke easily, emblems that fell off, boots that split at the seam, and oven mitts. The Retro-Action figures are light years ahead IMO.
I have decades old Megos who are not bow legged, stand straight, can pose their hips and legs, and are proportional. The boots actually fit more closely, the mitts weren't as bulky (and were only used on the earliest figures), and the paper stickers (and later fabric ones) lasted longer than the Bat symbol on my brand new Batman, which cracked when I tried to straighten the costume on his chest.

On what count do the Mattel figures surpass them? On quality control alone, the Mego bodies were far beyond what Mattel gives us.

As for the coin, the only option would have been a sculpted-in-the-hand version. I'm sure a to-scale coin would have violated at least a couple safety standards.

At work the other day I found an American $1 coin. Being Canadian, I had never seen one before. So I put it in my pocket and took it home. Over the weekend at Fan Expo I found a Two Face for sale at a booth and picked him up. When I got home I remembered the coin and it fit pretty well in his hand. So thats his coin now. Statue of Liberty is the good side and heads is bad.

BTW I think they did a VERY good job on Two Face. His clothes and face are amazing. He looks really good standing next to my Joker and Penguin. I think he's my favorite Retro figure right now.

    Coin Options

The coin on the left is a metal mini nickel (inset), next is a Netherlands dime, a new penny and a real Peace Dollar. Take your pick, big coin, coaster, frisbee or shield size!

If they made him like this, everybody would hate him for having a coin.
Just jam a real dime in his hand and enjoy!

that's Megoesque kids toy stuff for ya. (scalewise decisionwise)

AFAIC a slightly bigger (coaster) coin...it's better than "nothing"

....and it's ALSO better than a coin that's sized "in actual scale"
which is so freakin' small that it essentially IS "nothing".

    I'll pass on THAT.
Man, are you serious. You don't think a villain with a decision making coaster is
funny? I do. Besides, if that makes you happy, then shove a dime in his hand! Problem solved!!

Why should they pack in character appropriate accessories, why should they redesign a horribly constructed body? - Will they sell more units that way? That would only cut into their profit margin. They know DC Super Hero collector's will buy a piece of dog excrement once they plop a Bat mask and cape on it and seal it in a package.
