HOw would you grade the new Re Mego lines? Not talking about new lines like Castaway, Commander X, Zica, BBP etc. I am focusing on the reintroduced/reporduced lines. Star Trek, POTA and WGSH.
So far I give Trek an "A". If they reproduce all the aliens and maybe give us a repor of the original kit Gorn they get an "A+". We even got an enterprise playset. How cool is that? Now if only we can get that Mission to Gamma 7 (That's the name right?)
Apes. Hmmm. I have to say B or B- just because they stpped shy of reproducing the whole line. Trek is still incomplete but it is still ongoing. Per Doc Apes are over which is a shame. They did a great job on the figures they did produce though.
WGSH... Well this is the toughest one for me to grade. A real mixed bag. I wanted this to be a home run but IMO it just isn't. I like the "new" figures but with the exception of Green Arrow the figures they are re-making with new costumes and sculpts suck. GA only looks good because they barely changed him. Bats was my favorite Mego growing up and that thing they are rolling out in wave two isn't Batman. Anyway, overall grade so far is a C-. In theory, artistically they only ruined two figures Batman and Superman but since they are DC's flagship characters it's kind of a big deal. Add in to that the flawed execution... bowed legs and loose torso as well as that wierd sweat issue and what do you really have?
Individual Grades:
Green Arrow: B+ (no boxing glove, a decent body and no sweaty gunk and it would be an A+)
Superman: F (F for Frankenmego I still can't get over how bad this sculpt is. Even if this one had no defects I would hate that head)
Lex Luthor: B (No complaints but the body and the sweat)
Sinestro: B+ (all good but the body and grease)
Green Lantern : B (coulda been better but still very good. Lost a grade on execution as did all the others.
As for Wave Two? Batman get's an F-, Two Face a B, Manta B+ and Aquaman a C. Aquaman looks a little simpleminded to me. Something about that sculpt says "stupid". I can't put my finger on it....
