I collected the Hasbro 9" DC figures which I saw as the answer to Famous Covers which I also collected (and 9" Star Trek and EVEN Exclusive Premiere!) I enjoyed the Mego comeback in the 90s! The DC figures were high quality and had the Mego feel! *I cannot believe Flash (Barry) was never in the line! KB Toys 9" JLA were cool, too, I wish the 12" JLA had been 9"! I even have the 9" Masterpiece Golden Age Batman which I got with the book set for 75% OFF on my BIRTHDAY! The Masterpiece Golden Age Wonder Woman doll is in scale with these, too!
I am just glad EMCE and Mattel have brought back DC Megos in the TRUE 8" scale! Looking foward to this line continuing INFINITELY!

Better tan nothing but they painted her to "look" vintaged.
I think with the exception of the neck They have teh best posibility. Love the stomach tilting ankles and Gung Ho grip hands.Leave a comment:

For me, It has always been, How well will these blend in with my megos? GL is on a t2 body and displayed with my Megos. PERFECT FIT! the DC silvers did not blend at all, and the FC all look like they got an anal probe. That shouting face annoyed the hell out of me.Leave a comment:

I've got to believe if this 8 inch line continues to do well, Marvel will want their own presence for their upcoming movies in 2010 and 2011. Oh how cool it would be to have updates to the Marvel Megos.Leave a comment:

It was such a shame because it made me really wish that TB had done the quality control and not crossed their i's on that one if you know what I mean... FC was such a frustrating near miss for me that it brings into focus how dead-on the Matty retro series is out of the gate, imo.Leave a comment:

Ken Abrams was working at Marvel when Famous Covers were introduced.
He said they called it their "mego" line.
I bought a lot of Famous Covers as gifts for nephews and friends' kids, but
they lacked the essence of MEGO. Silver Age was closer to the mark,
but the line didn't last long enough to make enough figures.
I remember them making a 9 inch Martian Manhunter and a 12 inch Flash.
That seemed such a shame that Flash was not done in the 9 inch scale
to complete the classic Justice League (sans Wonder Woman).Leave a comment:

I dug the 9" Captain America from the Signature series. But I didn't get any other.
Buying these new Megos makes me want to get other Mego-esque figures like the Signature Spiderman to go with these new figures.
I'm so glad that Aquaman and Green Arrow are just around the corner. Keeps me away from the forbidden 9 inch versions of the same figures.Leave a comment:

I said it in the last 9" thread a month or so ago and I'll say it again: I have all of these figures, including the 9" Real Heroes, but none of them are Mego enough for me. I can't even consider them knock-offs - to me they're their own category of figure.
I'm glad they were made. We got a lot of Marvel Characters in pseudo Mego form that had never been made. I just wish they had been 8" in total height; that would've been great, even as stylized as the bodies were. As it is they're a curious piece of action figure history rather than display companions for Megos.
Nice as they were, I prefer the 8" format. I just do.
Now if they'd used the 9" Mego body, I'd probably be thrilled with them.Leave a comment:

The Toybiz line had more misses than hits my personal Favs from that line were Thor,Iron Man,Hawkeye and The Vision.
I love the DC 9 figures I just like the hasbro bodies and they fit well together with the Spiderman signature series that shared the same bodies.
For me they had the same charm as MegosLeave a comment:

Okay. I thought I was the only one. I've said this before, but even back in the day, while I loved my megos, I thought the Big Jims were just the right size. They weren't as big as G.I. Joes or 12" figures but they weren't as small as Megos. The only downfall was the articulation. While I realized immediately the Toybiz and Hasbro figures were bigger, I enjoyed it. They were like Mego but the size of Big Jim.Leave a comment:

I bought a lot of the Famous Coveras for my son to play with when they hit the clearance rack at Toys R Us. he liked them for a while but lost interest. he has a few of the DC ones too but they always seemed hunched over to me.Leave a comment:

I wanted to like them but just couldn't get into 'em. I had bought some of the famous Covers when they first came out but something about the way the feet/ boots were molded just ruined it for me. The 8 inch scale is just magical to me for whatever reason.Leave a comment:

The CK secret ID figure had a huge melon. The Silver Age one was a little better.Leave a comment:

Several of the superman and batman figures had severe head scale problems though. The first wave did the best with head size. And the sculpts are great.Leave a comment:
