EMCE POTA tv series figures?

I think the fact that you can get the originals cheaper than the reproduction was the killing blow to the Apes line. I would have bought the ones I don't already have a bunch of. The cheap ones I have already. I'm surprised the first waves of Trek figures did so well. The crew is really easy to get cheap and so are a couple of the aliens. I'm glad that line is going to continue. -

The problem with the Apes was that FOX insisted that DST only had
a license for the first movie. The first figure submitted to FOX was
the General Ape which brought about that conversation.
Sales were also poor - maybe because retailers were starting to
feel the poor economy or the fact that the first four apes are not
hard to find on ebay or expensive.
If sales had been better, DST would have looked into expanding
the line - because THEY are BIG Apes fans too!
I would really love to make more Apes, but first the fandom has
to get organized so we know that there is a quantifiable base
to market to.

EMCE POTA tv series figures?
I too love the Apes immensely,.....and hope that someday they will return in a Grand way. Till then....I'll just have to pretend and stick to my (Ape) customizing ways. Incidentally, I think i found the solution to the Soldier Ape dilema.(I'll post pictures soon)

BTW, I'm having a 1:6 scale POTA spaceship made by Matt Sotis. I'll try and get some pix posted. It's based on the actual set blue prints.Last edited by Chris; Jan 31, '10, 4:05 PM.Leave a comment:

I too would have loved to see another wave or two of Apes...
Was the problem mailnly sales, or the restricted licensing?Leave a comment:

Sorry if I'm short tempered lately
You're right - I should just ignore posts like that - and not express
my frustration over the lack of more Apes. I am a big POTA fan too
and would love to have seen that line continue.
Of course you never know what resources people have. Someone
here may have the wherewithal to secure the license from FOX.
I remember when Flattworld grabbed five licenses in the late 90s.
And neither Calvin nor Charlee was wealthy.

I would be glad to make more Apes - why don't you call Fox and ask them
for the licensing contract to all 5 films, the TV show, and the cartoon.
Once you sign the contract and pay the upfront money, PM me what
figure you want to make and I will get started on the prototypes.

I don't want to sound like a jerk but that answer was totally uncalled for. Here's a customer asking a legimate question and THIS is how you answer? I'm sorry but that was just bad form.Leave a comment:

If Fox releases another apes film the line will be up and running. In the meantime you might want to get customisingLeave a comment:

I just thought of this guys and gals,If the Apes franchise is dead along with this wave of figures that EMCE made, why do the originals go for such crazy nutzo prices on Evilbay and other websites with vintage toys?.There is a demand for Apes Doc.And lastly,if there is a franchise that is dead,Trek should be on the top of the list. Why is EMCE making more then?.Strange......Oh well, just a thoughtLeave a comment:

Well at least theres a few of us.Out of all the Megos I had plus other toys from that era(70`s),I loved the Apes the most.Doc,if your reading this, please reconsider the Apes and give it one more chance.
