Well, after a week or two of playing around with the Ironman figure with some of that Magic Sculpt.... I finally transformed him into a compatible size for Megos. It got buried by a bunch of posts but in case you missed it...

Yes...I owned that Spiderman, but didn't like it very much...so I sold it. My hopes are that they copy the Retro Mattel Figures...but come up with a Body that doesn't SUCK.

FYI, Marvel has already dabbled in the 8" scale, and even has a more articulated 8" figure, with the Unleashed 360 line. They advertised 28 pts. of articulation, but a lot of the joints didn't have a big range of motion. The figure that the line ended on was Iron Man. If they really wanted to wow me, I wish they'd put out a movie Iron Man in this format:Sure he isn't perfect, and maybe a bit to skinny...but what excites me is the fact that Marvel is starting to dabble in the 8" scale. Maybe they'll keep going...maybe they'll improve?
They already have one advantage over the Mattel Figures...they can stand on their own, and don't come apart while still in the Package.

But they did a bunch of Spider-Man based figures, including the movie, and also Comic Spidey, Black Spidey, Green Goblin, and Doc Ock.

I did reviews of these too when they were released not two years ago: Movie Green Goblin. and Black-suit Movie Spider-Man. All Hasbro needs to do to have their own 8" line is to revive this line on a generic 8" ML-style body with cloth suits. Or just continue this line.Leave a comment:

How can you compare these? One is a retro Megolike figure, the other is a modern figure that has nothing to do with Megos and is way too skinny.

its cool to see him with MEGOs.
I hope Marvel makes more characters.Leave a comment:

Why bother? It's a modern toy, that doesn't fit in with mego style anyway, and you already have a sweet mego-type ironman.
I'd leave him as is or rob the hands and maybe his feet, and get em cast up for customs. Possible the head but everything else about him is too skinny. Like Meule said, a person couldn't fit inside that thing unless he were twig-boy.Leave a comment:

I like him! I think he looks great...although he does not look like he's got much articulation. A little beefier would have been better and more realistic. He's a little stylized but I like it.
Now you've got me thinking...can't you just sculpt Ironman armor over a regular Mego body?Leave a comment:

I think it would be cool to see him lying flat next to the mego one. I can see a little in front , a little behind action perspective.
Maybe theyll make him in Mark 2 and all silver
That would make lots of good custom Robot fodder.

Standing next to those Megos he looks more like Iron Boy.
And it looks like he only has swivel shoulders and hips.
Definitely worth taking a knife to and salvaging as much as possible for some kind of Mego kitbash, but not so good.
It's too bad, if he'd been scaled up a half inch in all dimensions, he'd be great looking.
Thanks for taking the hit, Wrathdemon! Definitely waiting until I see this at retail.Leave a comment:
