Well, this is the beauty of the format right? Niche.

I don't doubt that you can get a group of Krofft fans in the high three figures in order to justify a small run. If you can get the license that cheaply.

The big question is, Marketing and Distribution/Fulfillment.

Can you get it to the word out to these fans or even the casual consumer? Beyond just the Mego format fans here on the forum. Where/How would they purchase them? Who's fulfilling those orders? Who's getting a cut of the retail price... in the case of Diamond distribution, the Diamond itself as the distributer, and the retailer are getting most of that action. At that point is it worthwhile to go into production based on pre-orders?

BifBangPow is affiliated with one of the largest online Pop Culture stores.
Figures Toy Company has a huge warehouse in Florida and has/is doing the long tail thing for over a decade.

I have no doubt that it would be a labour of love for whomever did theoretically decide to do Krofft Mego style figures.

Yeah, these posts are getting pretty nasty and personal. We'd all like to see figures made of our favorite properties, and we all have opinions on what would work and what wouldn't, as far as sales go. No need to hit below the belt on a speculative thread about toys.

And what you post is opinion too, no matter how much you believe it to be fact. I am pointing out that the lines you mentioned don't have legs or would already be out there. Its not a crap shoot, the companies do research first and have some idea what will fly and what will lay a big turd at retail. Toyroom pointed out already that the Krofft stuff was given a whirl at retail and didn't last long. I am just trying to point out to you doing the same thing you seem to be accusing me of doing, assuming your opinion is fact. A lot more people like Kiss than Bigfoot and Wildboy, thus the action figures and oodles of other product. How come Rick Springfield hasn't gotten an action figure? You think he's popular, too right?

I did grow up in the 70's and have no very fleeting memory of most of what you listed. Its got to appeal to the regular person outside our little dork circle to be a hit. Kiss, Bats, Twilight Zone, Venture Bros, Universal Monsters all have a broader appeal and that is why they got done. Dr. Shrinker, not so much. Unless you have graphs and charts to back up your opinion.

Krofft characters already got a small line of action figures (6 inch?) about 14 years ago that really didn't do much...

EW & DG and Land of the Lost really do seem like they could have been classic Mego lines.

I'm not convinced their appeal is any more limited that REH, Dallas, or Evel Knievel.

Wouldn't that be groovy?

This thread is de facto about one member's personal taste.

I'd love to see some Sid & Marty Krofft figures--Pufnstuf, Witchiepoo, HooDoo, Sigmund the Seamonster, Chaka, Sleestak, etc. I've been watching Pufnstuf and Land of the Lost on Me-TV the last several weeks on Saturday mornings.
