Hmmmm...it may be 4th or 5th---I may have the numbers mixed up
    ---but it's the last season---

oh man---you GOTTA watch that season of episodes---

I don't know about you, but I'm a REAL DCU villain lover---
and that season is chock full of 'em.

I think the BEST is THE GREAT BRAIN ROBBERY---you get to see a LOT
of the LEGION headquarters under very funny dramatic circumstances
---and for more of a "bam, slam, pow" type episode with the LEGION
as the focus---you should watch the second to last episode of the series-
    --called ALIVE!-----it's ALL VILLAINS man----groovy

Unless you're referring to the "Legion of Doom" which was created for the "Super Friends" cartoon on TV. Which begins to make sense I guess, although the LoD was never part of DC continuity outside of the cartoon. The closest the comics ever came was the Secret Society of Super Villains, which I believe the LoD might be based on. My exposure to Super Friends ended after Wendy, Marvin & Wonder Dog.
I call the 5th season the "LEGION" era because of the first episode
title "I AM LEGION" which implied that the whole kaboodle of villains
working together under GRODD and then LEX were indeed the
"new" LEGION OF DOOM (not to mention the connection between the
two with that awful familliarily shaped headquarters in an awfully familliar
    swampy location).

The LOD may have not been a part of DC continuity outside of the
SF cartoon---but it played a big part in influencing the 5th season of JLU ----

----a show on which the toys we're talking about in this thread are based.
(Of course yoiu watched the JLU show and didn't merely collect the figures, right?)

But if you never saw the old SF show with the LOD stuff I can understand
    why this'd be confusing.

    Had no idea.

    Anyways...

I'd think there other heroes/villains that were retconned for the Timmverse--
but, really that's neither here nor there as my original intention for
mentioning the Huntress/retcon thing was part of a bigger post---

and the bottom line IS that all those LEGION villains in that specific
combination only worked together against the JLA/JLA/JLU in the Timmverse
on TV---and that that's a good enough reason to package 'em together.

Even if they just merely appeared on the show(s) throughout the run--
it'd still make sense...Why? Because they're Timmverse JL(U) toys and it
    was a Timmverse JL(U) show.

Not to say I wouldn't wanna see a PLASTIC MAN in "Timm style" released!

I'm not living on Earth 2---I'm living in the 70s!
Helena Bertinelli (the current incarnation of the Huntress)) has been around since 1989...so she's existed in that format (not related to Batman/Catwoman) prior to the JLU series.

Helena Wayne the Earth-2 Huntress died in the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" back in 1986 (along with E-2 Robin).

So in all actuality, the E-2 Huntress was only around for 9 years (created in '77), whereas Helena B has existed for the past 19 years!

I'm not sure what Mattel's logic is for including Batman in this set as only the KG Beast is actually associated with him. It's as if Mattel thinks this set won't sell if they don't include yet another re-issue of him (the 16th repaint I believe). Why not just make it 6 villains? They could have easily repainted Solomon Grundy, considering he had a limited release, and made it another pack with a larger scale villain (i.e. Doomsday, Grodd). Sometimes I wonder how the decision makers in the toy industry get these jobs. But I am thankful that they are releasing 5 "new" characters - even though Shadow Thief looks like yet another repainted Amazo.

The Key - 1A: Justice League of America #41 - JLA villain
    Atomic Skull - 1A: Superman #303 - Superman villain
Silver Banshee - 1A: Action Comics #595 - Superman villain
Shadow Thief - 1A: Brave & Bold #36 - normally associated with Hawkman
    KG Beast - 1A: Batman #417 - Batman Villain
grayhank---I think the mere fact that the villains are all on the show-
-particularly during the 'legion" era is what makes them "unified" in theme
--- as their comicbok history was kinda minced and mixed throughout the
Timmverse history to enhance whatever they were trying to achieve with
any given story plot for any of the many series of the Timmverse--
    -
I mean---look what they did to the Huntress' charcter to jam her in the
    Timmverse for cripes sakes

And, really, I think it's an amazing assortment of 5 characters they
put in that set---and I'd be fearful to sell it without a sixth that was
well-known---and this time---I think they really EARNED that right
---yeah---they rarely do---but I personally think this time they did.

Outside of Batman I don't know any of these characters but the Atomic Skull
looks cool. I'd buy one if it was available individually.

Now THAT is a pack I'd pick up.

I was really hoping they'd round out the last season's LEGION VILLAINS
---that six-pack is a great start.
