Buzzsaw Hordak vintage vs Origins.
muobuzzhordak.JPG
There was a running change on the face paint on Buzzsaw Hordak as pointed out by enyawd72 in this thread:
http://megomuseum.com/community/show...-variant-found!
The one I have is what I believe is the final corrected version with the large red eyes and gray highlights on his face which matches the vintage Hordak figures. I absolutely love the extra smiling head the Origins figure comes with. That is going to be my default Hordak head. The action features works just like the vintage figure. You push down on the lever that the cape is attached to. The buzz saw action feature works very well and fires with a surprising amount of force. Far more than I would have expected for a modern toy and even shoots farther than the vintage one. You do have to have the chest panel open for it to work, though. The action feature is well hidden and there is a barely noticeable difference between the sculpt of the standard Hordak in comparison to the very bulky torso of the vintage figure.

There's a running change on series 3 She-Ra. Much better face paint. Thinner eyebrows and better painted eyes with lashes and highlights.
First release versus new release.

That's really cool.
They also evened out the skull part, tried to have everything more balanced, I noticed.
I still would like the original best, but the new one is well made, and fun.
Plus it would make a great present,
a gift, especially for those who never experienced the feel of 1980's playsets.Leave a comment:

The Origins line is the best toy line any company has done in ages.
Origins CG is great. I love my Classics CG and it scales better with the Origins figures, but the new Origins CG is a fantastic piece too.Leave a comment:

I don't really regret it. But I also probably wouldn't have invested as much in Classics if I knew Origins was coming in a few years. It did make passing on Super7's Snake Mountain really easy.Leave a comment:

I like how they completed the turret on the other side. Very well done.
I wonder if some folks who forked over the cash for the Classics Grayskull are now like "Aw, man...". ;-)

Here's a side view to help show the size of it.

There hasn't been a playset like this at retail for a very long time. You have to give Mattel credit, you just don't expect to see 1980s size and quality playsets any more.Leave a comment:

^Wow, that's great to hear. It looks fantastic. I have an early classic Grayskull too with the neater paint, received for Christmas 1982. In fact, until recently I didn't realize how sloppy the later ones had gotten!
It's so nice to see a REAL playset like this get made nowadays, and so very, very rare. I will be tempted by this when I see it, for sure.

Castle Grayskull vintage vs Origins
muogray.JPG
I've seen some reviews that mentioned that the new Castle is made out of a softer plastic. It's not made out of the same very rigid kind of brittle plastic of the original one but the plastic is not soft. The body of the castle is still hard plastic. Yes, there is a very, very slight bit of flex on the the top of the turret. But no more than the MOTUC Grayskull. The differences in the plastics used is hard to explain. It's still hard plastic but it is modern hard plastic. It has a satisfying hard plastic sound when you tap on it. It's also not super light. It seems about as heavy as the original to me.
The original Castle Grayskull was insanely popular and sold for the length of the line. So there are loads of variations. My vintage castle is one of earliest made in USA releases with the neater more elaborate paint and without the clips to hold to hold the laser cannon in place on the turret floor. The new castle is big. Just as big as the original. The turrets are deeper and you can actually fit a figure on the platform behind the laser cannon. I think the new sculpt is great. Has a bit of a Filmation look too it. I really like it. The Origins castle has everything that was great about the original and fixes all of it's flaws, like the cardboard computer. Great toy!Leave a comment:

Nice to know it's showing up. Given some of the usual toy YouTubers ranting about it, I just assumed it was still impossible to find.
