That really is an excellent little figure, I'd have been over the moon for it, age 10.

I stopped by a local Target today. They had the Father's Day promotion shelves up in the men's department. You would have to really be looking to notice. On the backside of the shelf were 3 hanger pegs. 1 for the exclusive black series Luke, 1 for the vintage collection Han Stormtrooper, and 1 peg for the Retro collection. The Luke peg had one figure, the Han Stormtrooper had 2 figures, and the lone retro collection was empty. Pretty sad display.

I think they should make retro collection versions of the last 17 figures. That's about the only way I would ever get them. I collect loose figures. Even the loose ones are ridiculously priced. Couple of years ago I took my daughter to the vintage toy store. I was looking at a loose Luke stormtrooper. He was a $150 at the time. They also had a 50lb container of Lego that i negotiated to $150. I asked my daughter which one she thought was the better deal. One small action figure or 50lbs of Lego. We got the Lego.

They could potentially go really deep with these. There's all kinds of unmade characters plus the Droids and Ewoks cartoons. That would be awesome. But realistically I just hope they finish the original 12.

If they make a bunch of them later on, I can't decide what I'm for excited for- Retro The Empire Strikes Back or Retro Return of the Jedi!

    Must-have list might include-

    Hoth Stormtrooper
    Admiral Ackbar!
    Emperor's Royal Guard

All Luke, Leia and Han and go from there, plus the ones I never had.

Great thread and pictures. I was able to get a set on Sunday. I went to Target when they opened and there was only 1 set left (?). They were not out on the shelf. Really pleased with them as most of you are. The card are a little flimsy, but everything else looks very good.

Exactly! These are not the dull matte of the Retro action or Gentle Giant Jumbo figures. These are vintage glossy. Just like the original Kenner figures when they were new. It's hard to photograph and my flash really doesn't do them justice. You really have to see them in person to appreciate them.

I came home with a set today, and comparing them to the 1995 set, I think they got the luster of the plastic better. This is one thing so many "retro" figures of late have gotten wrong. They have that wonderful glossy sheen that screams "I am a toy... love me!" That shiny, cheap plastic that would show up in the glow of the old Kim Simmons Photography that was used in all the old Kenner catalogues.

These are really fun. I hope they make more than enough so that people can army build to their hearts content.

Oh yeah, that's right. I also got the game just for the figures. I had the Kellogs Stormtrooper han already. -Of course Hasbro eventually re-released them in a set.

I think I kept the parts to the game, but got rid of the game after a decade or more.

Thank you I was happy to help. I never got the hate the 95 POTF four pack got either. I'm beginning to think it was more of a vocal minority online than the actual over all fan/collector views on the set. I loved it and bought two sets and it's very rare for me to buy doubles of anything.

Thanks for this thread, Werewolf. And thanks for the fine pictures and commentary. I appreciate you taking the time to do this, especially with the 95 4-pack figures. I was considering doing the same photos, and you saved me the trouble, so again, thanks.

That 1995 4-pack was scorned by collectors back in the day. People spoke loud and clear to Hasbro they wanted new, not old, and Hasbro listened. What a difference 24 years makes.
