Cuter, less scary... but still dressed and styled like Hookers? Impressive. Although I never understood the fuss. Then Bratz dolls were always way scarier than Monster High.Leave a comment:

Another thing that kinda irks me about the reboot is they finally had a chance to correct the height of the Draculaura dolls. Draculaura and Ghoulia have always been shorter in the cartoons than the other ghouls but their dolls are the same height as everyone else. Draculaura is still short in the reboot and this would have been a perfect chance to release a doll with the correct height.
I'm also disappointed there is now no chance they will release dolls of Slo Mo and Clawd in their cartoon outfits.Leave a comment:

Barbie has never really had a continuing storyline. It changes from theme to theme.Leave a comment:

This may just be Mattel being Mattel, now that I think about it. How many siblings of Barbie have been jettisoned out of canon over the years? Maybe Mattel operates under the "rotating kids" idea that comic editors used to swear by.

It's a billion dollar brand and the third best selling fashion doll line following Barbie and Disney Princess. Like I mentioned earlier, I think this reboot is because of Mattel losing the Disney Princess license to Hasbro.Leave a comment:

I wonder how popular MH is compared to its earliest release. Sadly my teenage daughters aren't collecting them anymore because they don't want to be a collector like Daddy. They see the house full of Mego and Lego and shake their heads at me.Leave a comment:

A few more reboot clips.
Building Monster High with Clawdeen and her new continuity little brothers. I guess this means Clawd and Howleen are not in the reboot.
Moanica D'Kay

New reboot clips.
The continuity has been changed. The MH school doesn't exist until Draculaura and Frankie decide to build it and travel the world to recruit monsters to attend.
Review samples of the reboot dolls have also been given out to some youtube reviewers. So far Draculaura, Frankie and Moanica.Leave a comment:

We saw the limited articulation dolls last night ... My 6 yr old says " look Daddy , her arm don't bend " ....Leave a comment:

Mattel officially revealed Dayna Treasura Jones on their Facebook page. She is supposed to be the daughter of Davy Jones but actually looks like a bizarre mix of SpongeBob Squarepants and a Disney Princess. The other dolls in the Shriek Wrecked set aren't any better. Draculaura looks like she should be singing "On the good ship lollipop." Just ghastly and we didn't really need another sea theme so soon after the slow selling Scarier Reef.
It's a real bummer. Monster fashion dolls was such an awesome idea. MH is kinda my thing. I detest Bratz, have zero interest in all the princess stuff and Barbie hasn't had a cool theme in ages.Leave a comment:

They are still continuing the full articulation in the $14.99 and up dolls. The reduced articulation is so far just for the budget dolls and playset pack ins.
I don't like that Moanica D'Kay appears to be Ghoulia's replacement in the new continuity. It kinda ticks me off actually. But I will give Mattel at least credit on her clothes design. The quality and detail looks on par to some of the earlier dolls. I don't get how she is less scary the Ghoulia though. Her purse looks like a brain and her jewelry looks like rib cages. I think it just means they didn't want a nerdy girl with glasses in their new "cute" Monster High.Leave a comment:

Given the huge amount of product MH has generated over the past 6 years, maybe this just marks a good stepping off point for the original collectors?
It certainly draws a big line in the sand for my family. Makes for an easy place marker for the end of an era and allows us to just fill in the gaps in the 'vintage' collection.
Also noting that the super low price point dolls seem to follow the trend of the 12" five point hero dolls marketed to the gents.Leave a comment:
