    $230!!
I might - might - pay that for a high-quality Captain America or Hawkeye. But for a lame character like Deadpool? Not a chance! SSC needs to wake up and realize they aren't hot Toys, and their figures don't come close to HT quality. This is at least $80 over-priced.

I think if he is half as nice as the new SS Batman then its well worth it. I've had literally hundreds of Hot Toys come through my store and these latest SS figures are in par with Hot Toys. Did you see the suit on the HT Adam West...it was a mix of tissue paper and cloth...on a $220+ dollar figure. HT could take a note from SS new outfits. I ordered one of the Deadpool EX figures and did it on their flex pay and used some of my past points to drop the price about $40. Will more then likely piece together a second body and outfit for the 2nd/extra head. I also recently purchased a Coca-Cola die cast 1/6 scale Vespa Scooter for under $40 that with a little customizing will make for a very cool display piece. Personally out of the Marvel Universe Deadpool is the only character I still follow, because he is simply fun. I can pick up and read any TPB have a beer and laugh and remember funny books are meant to fun. As to the price it us simply what the market will allow, when Hot Toys can pump out a new Iron Man, Cap, Joker, Batman every quarter and ask $230 and up, it has set a new price point. So saying its too much? I don't think so. I sell customs for $250 and up and over $100 for custom painted head and people pay it without batting an eye. I know guys over at Sideshow Freaks that have literally pumped over $400 into their custom Deadpool figures, I bet they think this price is a song for a fully decked out figure with two different head sculpts. Again its a personal choice. Personally I hate chunky peanut butter looks like baby 💩 to me and I wouldn't pay you $1 for a lifetime supply, it doesn't mean all the people out there that like it and buy it are stupid. All this is subjective, and people like what they like. Hell we are all grown men talking about toys....dolls no less. How many people in day to day society would even care if they stumbled on a Mego MOC Green Arrow? Again we make up a small community in the grand scheme of things so we should keep our rock throwing to a minimum....because we all live in a long row of glass houses. Just my two cents.
      Take Care, Jase

Think SS now has the license to do sixth scale comic versions of Marvel and DC....so I imagine its going to be an amazing few years for comic and toy collectors. The Batman is beautiful. Superman is next for their DC line followed by The Flash and Green Lantern. For Marvel their first release is Deadpool then Wolverine...makes since its two of their two favorite characters, although I would love to see a Bob Layton inspired Iron Man or Romita Green Goblin with Gilder....little plastic plume of smoke you could attach to the back jet and a handful of little pumpkin 🎃 bombs! Geek heaven. A big *** blue eyed Ben Grim Thing in true 1/6 scale....yeah my bank account is in trouble. Of course I might be able to sway the boys to go to cosmetology college and become hair dressers....that frees up some college funds, because honestly what's more important? Their education or brightly dressed plastic dolls. Of course the dolls. Like its a choice! 😏
          Thanks ~ Jase

As someone who owns over 60 Hot Toys figures, as well as all 4 of the Sideshow DC figures produced thus far ... no, they are not.

$230?! Why $30-$40 more than Sideshow 1/6 DC figures have sold for? I DREAD to know what SS 1/6 Iron Man and Dr Doom with their armor will cost!

I am glad SS has BOTH DC and Marvel licenses not since Mego, but $200 and more a figure?!

And to think once SS 1/6 Universal Monsters and James Bond figures cost $40 each!

Well people will definitely overpay for Deadpool. I could careless about him but everytime he comes out he's the most expensive in the series. He's what Creature was in the 70's.

I agree to disagree, with so many HTs getting sent to me for repairs, fixes, mods, and touch up paint SS latest releases are by far catching up. Again that's not bashing HT...I have quite a few pieces back in my collection. I find it funny that people don't bat an eye if HT comes out with another Predator/Iron Man/Dark Knight something and ask $225 up, but if another company comes out with something similar people feel threaten by it. When you shouldn't, the more product to hit the market the better for collectors as a whole. Doesn't mean you got to buy everything but chances are if more items are produced the more chances something your are interested in will get made.
To think the comic collection that SS is putting out is inferior, go check out Sideshow Freaks (which is basically a HT community) and see how many die hard HT collectors who are now in the process of selling off their HT pieces to collect these lines. That not my opinion that's what's going on, but to me I don't see why people can't be happy that there is more then one dog in the hunt. We aren't voting a president in where you can only have one...you can have more then one choice for your shelf. We again are talking about Toys.
                    Thanks ~ Jase

I've actually been a member of the Sideshow Freaks board longer that I have here (about 10 years), visit several times a day, and haven't noticed any mass selling-off of Hot Toys product in favor of Sideshow's DC Comic 1/6 line. Sure, there are dozens of for-sale postings of Hot Toys product on the site on any given day (Sideshow product too), but I don't think I've read even one post from someone saying they were switching from Hot Toys movie to Sideshow comic book figures.
Undoubtedly, there are way more fans of comic book movies these days than actual comic books. I'm sure there are a fair number who collect both movie and comic book inspired figures (myself included), and yes, there are probably some hardcore comic book fans who dropped Hot Toys movie figures in favor of more classic comic book interpretations of characters when Sideshow's line debuted, but there are unquestionably many more people collecting the Hot Toys movie figures.
That in itself doesn't prove Hot Toys superiority when it comes to quality 1:6 figures, to be sure. And yes, Hot Toys figures have their share of flaws (more so lately it seems as they pump out the releases). But overall, having inspected both, they are still clearly superior to Sideshow's figures, to my eye, at least. Sideshow's quality is certainly much higher than it was back in the days of their James Bond, Planet of the Apes, Universal Monsters, etc lines. Clearly they saw the need to up their game in the 1:6 realm, and have responded.

Off the top of my head, and having not inspected some of Sideshow's offerings in months, I recall:
                      - horrible, gummy knees on the Joker that limit his pose-ability
                      - hands pop off too easily with little provocation on Joker
                      - face paint on Joker was too "fleshy" for my liking
                      - loose joints on Harley's body, particularly the wrists (hands fall off too easily) and ankles (ditto the boots)
                      - a bunch of collectors on the SSF board reported mis-matched eyes on Catwoman (though mine were ok)
                      - again, body on Catwoman is a little loose and hands pop off easily
                      - my Batman suffers from a "floppy" body
                      - Batman's belt doesn't fit snugly enough
                      - many are complaining about Batman's "eyes" being only partly painted white and are modifying them

Mostly minor flaws, but four figures into the line I'm disappointed that Sideshow's bodies remain substandard for the price. The tailoring is top-notch, certainly. I'm also not crazy that these characters are Sideshow's "interpretations", and are not more "classic" in appearance, but that's a subjective complaint. Certainly, it's less constricting to do an interpretation of a comic book character's head and costume than it is to faithfully reproduce an actor's likeness and replicate movie costuming (as Hot Toys does with their movie figures).
And I guess that's the main reason I have a tough time paying the same price for a comic book interpretation of a character as I do for a movie-based one, which may not be completely fair. I have no idea what licensing costs, but I'd imagine the expense is greater for a movie figure due to specific likeness rights, so that alone makes me feel I'm over-paying at $200-230 for Sideshow's offerings. Throw in the substandard body, and it feels like they're overcharging. Of course, if that's the price the market will bear, more power to them, I guess.
I've purchased all the DC offerings to date, and I'll get Superman, but I'm not impressed with the preliminary pics for Flash and Green Lantern from SDCC, so unless they improve I'll be skipping those. Deadpool would be a tough sell to me at $150, so at $230 he's an easy pass. I don't like what I've seen thus far on Wolverine, either, so until Captain America, Hawkeye or Thor come along, I'll probably be sitting out the Marvel figures. Which is a shame, because comic-based figures are my first priority, going back to the Captain Action/WGSH days. And I absolutely loved the DC Direct 13" line.
As you say, though, it's ok to have different opinions, they are, after all, toys!
