Any news on the next wave of Mattel's Batman 66?

It would have been nice if Mattel had held back and timed the figures to release with the DVD sets this fall. Not sure if it would have helped, but an end cap with the figures and DVDs together would have made a nice display.Leave a comment:

There's DEFI(NITELY something we don't know about why this is what it is.
Chris' "subscription" suggestion sounds like it COULD have been the "perfect" solution to the line continuing, but because of what I detect as "a huge info gap" going on here, I suspect that even a sub for the more discerning '66 adult collector wouldn't be the answer---
If it's something having to do with licensing this particular scale. or if it that there's plans for other formats that we don't know about, etc, etc---and the powers-that-be at Mattel have their minds made up---then NOTHIN is gonna save/revive this line---at least until we know why there's a problem in the first place---definitively.Leave a comment:

We really don't know how well they moved nationally. I can find them at any TRU I walk into right now, where as last fall, I never ran into one.
And the TRU price for any two is what I paid for all six, (four villains and B&R box), through Amazon last Christmas, so there's no way I'm going to pay that MSRP on a second line or the Batmobile. And I have to think Matty knows this just by checking sale trends.
They could also be watching FTC and see how well those move. If they do well, then we could see more out of Mattycollector.Leave a comment:

The Utility Belt prop, and the upcoming cowl prop.what are they making outside of Hot Wheels and action figures?
No one seems to know. It may have to do with licensing likenesses separately for different actors. It was dead before it even started? What killed it so early on?
I really thought they were top notch!
From everything I've heard, it did well everywhere. Mattel really does seem to have a problem connecting with their various fan bases.

A bunch of meth addicted baboons could run Mattel better than it is now.Leave a comment:

I kind of think that action figures weren't the main reason they grabbed the license.Leave a comment:

^It's mind-boggling. Mattel continues to work on 66 product, but not this line. If they were switching to a 3.75" line, I'd kind of understand.

I was told by somebody in the industry that it's dead.
Which is weird because it sold out here right away, the shelves are clean save for some comic shop leftover Penguins.Leave a comment:

^It seemed to be pretty much over before it began. Why Mattel didn't offer THIS as a Matty subscription is anyone's guess.

Do you know what happened? I guess not enough sales and possibly expensive license.
The product was very well reviewed and well made.
Although, they did make most of the major figures. With the exception of Batgirl.
Toys themselves weren't priced too high. Unless you went to Toys R Us and they were ridiculously high.
Anyone know why it didn't continue?Leave a comment:
