The DC lineup was the third wave of Nostalgia cars released by Hot Wheels this year.
The first wave was the Masters of the Universe which had a TRU exclusive 4 pack. The second wave released: cereal cars- Booberry, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Count Chocula, Wheaties, and a few others including a sdcc exclusive Frankenberry.
The third wave (DC cars) was then released it includes the Wal-Mart exclusive 4 pack. They have been on the shelves for a couple of months now- One good place to shop for them is Milezone.com - they sell them by the case as well as individual.
The most recent wave is candy cars: twizzlers, Milk Duds, Good -n- plenty, etc.
They are sold at Wal-Mart, Target, TRU- but usually tough to find much on the pegs- Some grocery chains sell them as well- like Kroger. Other hobby stores are a good spot to look like Hobby Town USA (I have GREAT luck there!)
Moving into 2012 there will be:
Hanna-Barbera
Pin-Up Nose art
Hersheys
Ice Cream
Saturday Eve Post
There also looks to be a second round of DC comics based cars.
Nostalgia series, like Vintage Racing, Garage and Boulevard series Hot Wheels are part of the premium line ( they all come with rubber tires (not hard plastic) and metal bases and bodies- most (not all) of the $1 garden variety HW come with metal bodies or metal bases- but often one is plastic) - they are meant for the "adult" collector- hence the jacked up price.Last edited by Saroyan; Dec 28, '11, 1:45 PM.Leave a comment:

These are neat, but I don't get the bigger price point. Although it makes more sense here than on the MOTU cars. We all know Mattel did NOT pay a licensing fee for MOTU.
I have yet to see any DC cars in the wild though. When I do, the retro packaging may suck me in. Jose Luis Garcia Lopez gets me every time!!!
I wish they were all new sculpts though. Who wouldn't want a newly minted Hot Wheels Supermobile and 1978 comic Batmobile?

I was able to get the 4 pack at Walmart here in GA, but have not seen the single cars anywhere...my brother was able to find all of the singles in TX except for Batman and Superman, but had never seen the 4 pack.Leave a comment:

Saw the boxed Batman set at WallyWorld- $19.99, bit rich for me. They only had Luthor left on the peg.
Me won't buy Bizarro if me see him, him be dumb toy!Leave a comment:

Yes, I actually found them hanging on the pegs about a month or so ago. I was going to post about it, but I figured that it was already old news here.
They came out right after the Cereal HW cars with the Monsters Boo Berry, Franken Berry and Count Chocula, along with other cereal classics such as the Trix rabbit and Wheaties etc.

I'll have to check our Walmarts. They seem to be hit or miss on stuff like this.Leave a comment:
