    Disney Princess and Frozen

These are the first Elsa and Anna dolls released back in 2013. Wow, it's been over 10 years since Frozen was released. It's hard to believe now since Frozen toys are so readily available that when these were first released, they were stupid hard to get. I mean Blink and you miss them. Mattel really underestimated the demand.

These were released in Mattel's Sparkle Princess phase and full fabric outfits were already gone in playline. These are still early enough though that they do use the more classic style Barbie type bodies. They have Barbie legs but without the click joints. Just hollow plastic. They do have old skool heeled small barbie feet, so the shoes stay on really well. Nothing like the more recent Hasbro and Mattel Princess dolls where the shoes practically fall off when you touch them.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

That movie snuck up on Disney and they were behind the ball on getting merchandise out for Christmas. Huge mistake.

Hasbro's first Frozen dolls with full fabric outfits. I think 2016 or 2017.

Hasbro's Princess dolls were pretty nice dolls for the price point before they switched to the molded plastic tops. Same as Mattel, they used light hollow plastic bodies with no knee joints. Quite a bit shorter than Mattel's dolls.

The first Kristoff doll from 2013 made by Mattel.

        frozenkristoff13.jpg

Really nice quality detailed fabric shirt. It's not cheap papery printed stuff. His hat is removable but does leave a fairly noticeable hole in his head from the peg that holds it on. Surprisingly the boots are removable and not just molded on. On the downside, he is really hard to stand up. He leans forward quite a bit and is challenging to balance.

Elsa, Anna and Olaf from the Mattel Disney 100 eight pack. The set is fantastic. Eight dolls with all fabric outfits and accessories including Tinkerbell and Alice which you can't get in playline. These aren't collector doll levels just what playline used to be and should be.

          frozendisney100.jpg

Elsa really suffers in the playline. The molded on top and split cape stuck to her back isn't great. In the playline I think Elsa and Snow White fair the worst. The Disney 100 doll is night and day improvement. I do think they should have done some glitter snowflake details on her cape.

While Anna fairs better in the basic line than Elsa, this one is still a huge improvement. Anna's outfit is especially nice. Separate fabric shirt, vest, shirt and cape.

Here's some Mattel Snow White dolls. The first one from 1992, the current playline and the Disney 100 Snow.

            princess-snow.jpg

The 92 Snow is pretty much a Barbie in a Snow White outfit. Nice quality outfit with a very poofy dress that were Barbie staples at the time. The outfit actually has a gimmick where you can transform it to her scullery maid dress.

Snow's outfit really suffers in the playline with no collar or cape. The Disney 100 doll, in my opinion, is the nicest Snow we've gotten in the mass market/playline level in at least 20 years. Both current Snow White dolls had their hair crazy gelled out of the box. I do think all the current Mattel Princess dolls have lovely head sculpts and very nice quality hair. Much better faces than what Hasbro was doing.

              Tinkerbell

Mattel 2004, Jakks Disney Fairies and Mattel Disney 100 box set.

              disneytink.jpg

The 2004 Tink is pretty much an old skool Barbie right down to the click knees. She came with a wand that kind of looks like a green Swiffer brush and a globe of pixie dust/glitter. The pixie dust gets everywhere. Which I am sure parents loved. The Jakks Tink is pretty nice except for the really cheap thin wings that are made out of same plastic as the bubbles on action figures. The Disney 100 box set Tink is super nice. Just adorable head sculpt. Tinkerbell is not available in the budget Princess playline. Only in the 100 boxset or the more expensive collector doll, which I'm not really digging.

Mattel seven dwarfs from the 1992 Snow White line. Vinyl figures with three points of articulation in scale with the Snow I posted earlier. They all have a color change feature like blushing or sleep eyes. They were available individually or in a couple different box sets.
