I don't think McFarlane stuff is overrated at all; I'm not even a fan of his and I can see how his influence on the toy industry was dramatic. Do you honestly think we'd have Marvel Legends or DCUC without McFarlane paving the way? We'd probably still have Toy Biz shoveling out low quality Marvel/X-men variants if it weren't for him. I'm not even sure if we'd have DC Direct, and I'm confident we wouldn't be seeing things like the Heroes action figure line. Good or bad, McFarlane pioneered the idea of marketing new release toys to collectors, brought the sculpting quality way up (whether its your taste or not, clearly thought and skill went into the process), pioneered new ways of paint decoration and (bad, but true) helped to knock down some price resistance, allowing for further advances in sculpting and painting.

He was one of the folks instrumental in challenging the prevailing notion that collectors are a pimple on the *** of the elephant that is the toy market and built quite a nice business for himself in the process.

I think it's fashionable to hate on McFarlane (just like it's fashionable for comic folks to hate on Rob Liefeld), but he really was a pioneer in the toy industry.

I gotta Say I wan't a Fan of the ToyBiz Pre-Marvel Legends figures either. I do admit to owning a few of the X-men pieces However. It was a Heavily influenced time for me ,.. when those came out & I was buying them.

I vote for Mcfarlane as well:

Over-rated figurines masquerading as "toys," their so-called quality matched only by their designer's arrogance.

    3 3/4" joes ROCKED!! IMHO.
Transformers on the other hand made me feel like the world's stupidest kid, I could just never figure 90% of them out. But their innovativness keeps them from being overrated to me.
I gotta go with any toy bought for monatary gain: beanie baby's, webkins, newish star wars stuff.

Definitely Spawn and the McToys twisted lines.

Absolutely abysmal quality break when you look at them figures. I am honestly surprised most of the Spawn figures even passed toy safety laws.

    The non-existent articulation.

Messy paint ops that make the figures look like they were dropped in a mud puddle

    The infamous one big boot.

Ugly and derivative sculpts passing as “edgy.”

Lastly, the overall harm McToys did to the action figure industry with all the ugly, over hyped, exaggerated, pre-posed, “instant collectible” unarticulated lumps of plastic that followed.

Yeah, I have to add that the Hulk movie toys looked even cheaper than the ones from the first film. Then again I don't think anyone had any faith the "re-do" was going to prove successful anyway so I guess no one should have been surprised. The pricing on those items were an absolute joke. It won't be long before you see shelves at Big Lots stacked with them.

I think the Batman Dark Knight figures,.. except for the Movie Masters was was an all together Horrible Line. They look as if they were Made in the 90's from Toybiz... I thought toy's somewhat evolved... I guess some forgot to tell Mattel.

Same with the Hulk Movie Toys,.. Just can't stand them. Other than the Target Exclusive Figure,.. Inwhich is just a Hulk Figure from Marvel Legends witha resculpted Head.. that line Just Blows.

    Pok'emon... Never got it.

Speed Racer.... Man with all the marketing that The Toy company did with these... & the Mass Product that was out there,.. it seems as if no one really cared & most were already on Clearance 2 months after the Movie Tanked.
