I miss the Newberry's in Cooperstown. It was right next door to the Hall of Fame. Use to have a lunch counter in it. Best time to go was Hall of Fame Weekend. Most of the HOFs ate there.
Music videos you couldn't wait to see
Monday Night Football when it was a real event
Heavy weight boxers you could watch on regular TV-Ali,Frazier, Norton, Forman
Newberry's (Five and Dime Store)
Ronald Reagan
Detroit
Playboy, always best when found hidden under your brother's bed
Bill Cosby records/Fat Albert/The Cosby Show, all before we knew what he was.
Same thing with OJ Simpson
Sears Catalog toy section at Christmas

I miss the old malls I used to go to back then. It seemed they were packed 24/7 back then. There is only one original mall still standing today that I went to and it looks nothing at all like it did back then and all the stores are lone gone..
Record Stores. I know we still have them but there are very few where I live. I miss the old I went to that are long gone.
Video Stores. I miss going to the video store and the excitement of waiting for a new movie to come out. Although I hated the late fees but I really miss them..
ToyTown-This was a toystore in the area Im from that was the size of a supermarket. They had EVERYTHING a kid in the 70'-87 (when they closed). If I had a time machine that would easily be one of the first places I would go. Ironically toys r us was right up the street and still is to this day but it looks NOTHING like it did back then..
The HUGENESS of events like t.v. shows, Movies, albums etc..
Yeah, I was filling in at another location at work and got all excited there was a Ben Franklin's just down the street. It was cool since I didn't know there weee any left but it wasn't the same.
Oh, yeah! Woolworth's and Ben Franklin. I remember getting MOTU figures at those stores. I think there's still a few Ben Franklin stores left but they are just craft stores now.
Dime Stores are my biggest thing. There's something I just love about them. Nothing is more nostalgic to me. Everyone else's things are great too, but the horror movie hosts mentioned before is the other thing that I wish my kids could experience. I take my kids to the Ghoulardifest every year that is run by Big Chuck and Little John (old local hosts mentioned before) but my kids don't fully get it. Though even my teenager does enjoy it.
I miss albums because of the artistry in their design. I miss the abundance of walk-in toy stores that are nearly extinct today. I especially miss the MTV culture where you could see all the latest and greatest groups 24/7 in addition to all the vintage videos. The internet and Youtube have destroyed that. I miss the ticket price for a concert and the frequency in which you could see your favorite groups. The music industry is a shadow of what it use to be. And I miss the hobby magazines that were so abundant. Always great articles and plenty of quality photos.
9. Kids Magazines! The Electric Company, SuperMag, Dynamite, Highlights for Children, Ranger Rick, ZooBooks...had subscriptions to them all. My Favorite was the Electric Company because of those awesome Spidey Super Stories!
10. METAL LUNCHBOXES! So beautiful...kids today will never know the joy of owning one of these practical works of art.
Yep! I had a subscription to Wee Wisdom magazine (put out by Prevention). And although you can get some really nice "tin totes" on Ebay, most parents opt for the soft satchel type of lunchbox.
