I remember it was pretty pricey too. Around here maybe more than $100.

Does anyone know what the alpha probe space shuttle originally retailed for? For some reason I thought it was pretty expensive (was it close to the 100.00 range?) and why I was never allowed to buy it. I just remember staring at it endlessly on the toy store shelves wishing I could get it

Yea, you're right, I remember it seemed like he would take forever to come down. Mine got stuck in plenty of trees and phone lines!

I was just getting out of them, and other toys then. I became a teenager.

Even though I was way into Adventure People circa 1980, I never had a really strong interest in the space toys, I was still very much into the scuba/water sets and car/van sets. Then again I was one of those weird nerdy kids who thought the TV Van playset was just the coolest thing ever, lol. But now as an adult collector I am really intrigued with the space themed toys they made. That photo of the giant display makes my head spin, I adore Fisher Price toys.

Some of my favorite sets were the Dune Buster,Motorcycle and Kyak .I would have liked the 4X4 set with the Bandit figure too but I was little old for toys by then same with the Alpha Probe.

Cool, love to hear the stories and adventures. I thought the Space line came out in the 80s, because I never had them. My toy playing days were over by the time 1980 hit.

The Space sets came out in the 1980 I never had them just the X-Ray woman. We used to play in a couple places mostly mine or my friends back yard or ClayHill which was behind a building across from my backyard. There was a huge piece of stone we used for a mountain climbing rock there.

Did the space stuff come out in the 80s? Never had the space sets. Thought they were cool, but I think I was done with toys by the time the space stuff came out.
