I have been a member for about 4 years or so.

I haven't renewed my membership yet but probably will since I do like the AT figures they have made the last few years. The magazine is really lame, I literally look at pictures of new figures or convention pieces and throw it away....I spend about 2 minutes looking at it.

The figures are very pricey but they are well made and the production number is pretty small which is why they cost so much I suspect. I know when they first introduced the AT club figures, I begged Brian to consider coming out with an African American Talking Commander since it is such a grail piece and out of reach for most collectors but would be nice to have a reproduction. He liked the idea but I have yet to see one.

As already stated, you can pretty much purchase most figures for around the club price on Ebay but they do go up after the club has sold after them. The Land Adventurer sold out pretty quick and the last time I checked (and it has been a while), they were selling for about $150 on EBAY. I bought a few Air Adventurers and sold my extras for about $125 when they were sold out. I'm surprised they still have most of the other ones from previous years. I would think with a production run of 1,970 or whatever it is, they wouldn't last for years and years but I do know they hardly ever reduce the price on anything that is limited. I think they run a Father's Day special or something like that but that's about it.

Like I said, I don't really think the membership does much for me other than buying a few figures here and there and that's about it. I always call the phone number to order figures...they are much more responsive if that helps.

I broke down and bought the "Attack of the Polar Bear" set today. I still think $230 is too much for it but I haven't seen one for a lower price. And it turns out that there is a "painted head" Joe with a red parka that was available as a single to members/con goers that bought the set back in 2006. I did a little more checking and all the con exclusive sets have alternate/extra single figures. Great.

The Man of Asia is the 2008 Club 12" exclusive figure. And the Man of Asia accessory pack and the Magnum Power accessory pack are also 2008 Club exclusives. I wonder what the convention exclusive will be this year.

I didn't see the relevance in the price against what you actually got, except for this "perceived" exposure to special deals. As far as member exclusives go, it is nothing to see those figures hit Ebay for about the same price soon after they hit the collector websites. When I read this thread, it just reminded once more why I stayed away. At any rate, I do hope your experience is positive and productive to your collection. Best wishes!
I almost didn't join because I did find the accessory packs and figures on eBay but they were all at least $15-$50 more and shipping was exorbitant. The Club's shipping charge is very reasonable. Plus by joining the Club I am able to connect with other fans/collectors and track down things I need.

With the exception of the bear and the AT flag, you can get almost everything else from the set in the "Search for the Lost Squadron" boxed set for around $30-$40. Sure the uniform is not the same but you can get close enough.

With the 3 sled Dogs, the sled, the Polar Bear, & other Weaponry,.. let alone the figure, it is pricey, but man is it worth it, & boy does it look cool.

The convention exclusives are fantastic but pricey. I'd love the "Attack of the Polar Bear" one, but $230 is a little much to pay. I'd think $100 would be more reasonable.

I will tell you though a few convention Exclusives for this yr do look very neat.

The 12" "Terror on the Sea Floor" , With the Mutant Clam
    & the 3 3/4 inch Chuckles/ShipWreck 2 pack.

    Very impressive figures.

What year were you a member? It sounds like the Club did an overhaul in 2006, which is the year of the first Club free Joes.
