Always thought Great Mazinga was the coolest of the bunch...Just the overall look, the brain spacecraft....neighbor kid had one...would love to collect this line but space is becoming an issue.. -
That pic of Sowth's collection is amazing, the boxes for the Shogun Warriors is probably in my top five favorite toy packaging of all time.
Excellent Top 10 list too, I think Mazinga and Raideen would be a tie for the #1 slot on my list!Leave a comment:

Besides not having enough room to collect the machinders these guys are I believe the most expensive toy series to collect. Big time thousands for the non Shogun Warrior ones. There's an article out there about a famous collector from Japan who owns all of the machinders I'll post it if I can find it.Leave a comment:

Pretty bad that they mentioned & I quote
"Number eight is a three-way tie because Dragun, Ryger and Poseidon worked as a team and should remain as such (U.S. kids would know them as the Spaceketeers). The loving features on these figures such as giant missiles and fold-down treads (just like on the cartoon) is what makes these three special."
No most US Kids know them as the Starvengers Spaceketeers was on Wed Not tuesday
My favourite was Starzinger/Spaceketeers, but I was always deadly curious how that show ended up in a line-up that was otherwise all Shogun Warriors/Giant Robots. One would imagine it should have been Tranzor Z/Mazinga in that rotation alongside the other Go Nagai and similar creations (Mazinga's pilot was actually a supporting character in Grandizer wasn't he?).Leave a comment:

I'll sort through my dvd's later, but I'm prettysure I've picked a couple of these titles up at my local Dollarama for a buck. Are these those crazy korean bootleg type cartoons that splice characters from other series together making a jumbled mess of a story along the way?
I had a link talking about several of them, let me try to dig it up. But loved the mazinger snake like creature in one, or how they Took Inferno from the transformers and made him their own "fire bird" character (A toy was even produced in Korea of that!!!!)Leave a comment:

Awesome! I wish I had the space to collect and display more Jumbos than the half dozen I have. I don't think i've ever seen a Rodan live before.
I think the Getter Robo series was called Starvengers in the english language Force Five rotation. Spaceketeers was the non giant robot series Starzinger that remixed The Monkey King with The 3 Musketeers (Jesse Dart, Porkos et al).Leave a comment:

I really want a Rodan. I never saw one in stores either. First time I saw one was when I visited my cousin's house when I was a kid and his friend brought one over. I was completely floored, I wasn't even aware of it's existence, and I really wanted one to go along with my Godzilla. I vainly tried to find one in stores after that, but couldn't find it at all.Leave a comment:

I remember really wanting that Rodan as a child. Never saw one at a store. Cool toys.Leave a comment:

Nice run-down B!
Rodan was only available in the United States, making it the rare occasion when Japan got screwed out a cool Japanese toy
Here are my boxed guys, I will add some Japanese Jumbos eventually, Tetsujin is waiting for me...

Sowth-- great pic!
You know what I find funny? For the original US Mazinga, one of the most often missing and most desired parts and that being the brain ship, I actually found here in the market place and scored for like 25$. I just could not believe no one really jumped on that, nor the fact that I got it for so cheapLeave a comment:

The part of his collection that kills me is the Mexican bootleg Jumbo's. I mean just how friggin obscure is that? Just when you think you've heard/seen it all.Leave a comment:

This is also worth a look at. You'll be impressed.
