Thanks everyone, this is a really great online community. Ever since I was a little kid, I have always had this feeling. That I should have been born back in the 1960's, that way I could really enjoy the 70's.

A funny little story, when I was in grade four. We were asked to bring in an old item for show and tell. Well I brought in an my reel to reel tape deck from the early 60's, the teacher was really amazed.

I've always felt like I should have been born about 93 seconds earlier.

Nah, this is the right era to be in for collecting as it's done on here... I mean if you were say 35-45 years old in 1975, it's highly unlikely you'd be collecting Mego/Mego-like figures then... More than likely you wouldn't even be collecting original era GI Joes... If you were your age now during the Mego era, that'd put you as being born in the mid 30s to the mid 40s: You'd be after electric trains, Roy Rogers memorabilia, whatever else you had an interest in as a kid in the early 40s to mid 50s... It's highly unlikely you'd start in collecting new action figures unless it had some connection to your past interests... In 1975, I could possibly see an adult collector buying Lone Ranger stuff if they were a die-hard collector for all those years, but I could not see one going to buy a Big Jim, as it'd have no connection to anything from their youth...

Looking at it strictly from the POV of the collecting habits of people on here, I can't see anyone wanting to be their age now in the 70s/early 80s... You'd have no connection to this hobby, you'd be connected to the past not looking at (then current) Megos...

Welcome Mark. Yes, the 70s was the best time to be a kid, and maybe we can share some of that magic w/ you!

started a topic Born at the wrong time?

    Born at the wrong time?

Although I am only 22 years old, I have a real fascination for the 60's and the 70's. My friends always take the Mickey out of me for my taste in music.

I am always on the look out for the odd record or 8 track tape at yard sales and Flea markets.

I am really interested in collecting original Star wars memorabilia from the original trilogy. I have only been collecting these items for the last four years, but I have managed to track down most of the action figures and a number of play sets. I recently discovered a box of assorted Mego items at a flea market and so I have begun collecting them now.

Well this is my first post, I just want to say to everyone on board
