My sister had one. It came with tablets that turned water milky white. It makes a cute moo.

It's funny that you mention the Battlestar Galactica missile stuff. Just this week, I was on the phone with a friend of mine and he brought it up. That's the kind of thing that was a huge deal as a kid, but somehow it was a huge deal in a completely different way than it is now. I think as a kid, I didn't really feel any kind of tragedy about a child death (or the stupidity of parents giving a toy like that to a 2 year old), but I thought, "Man, they're messing up our toys!"

My Uncle used to buy me the coolest toys for christmas back in the 70's ..Micronauts...TOmy's Big Loader for example (was cooler than I thought it would be actually)...then he bought me this freakin' cow! --- My brother and I blew that bovine up one fourth of July we did. YOu cranked her tail and she moo'ed! I think she moo'ed when we blew her up.

Oh yeah, definitely. Hell, I remember hearing about the Battlestar Galactica problems from the beginning. I was a bit older, around 11 years old, when it all went down, but I remember my mom asking me if I wanted to trade in my missiles from my Cylon Raider and Colonial Stellar Probe for a Hot Wheels car (as per Mattel's arrangement). My answer was a resounding "NO"

BTW, "Milky"? That was really the best name they could come up with, did they even try? "Milky"? Really?

Pretty sure those comments are BS and this is just a myth. A toy company would have to be insane, and extremely negligent, to make a product like this using any kind of toxic material in the "milk", when it would be a sure thing that some kids would try to drink it. If a bunch of kids died from that, the company's legal (and publicity) problems would be staggering.

WT*? I have never seen that before. I am amazed with the crap they make or made sometimes, and I am guilty of owning some of it, but seriously a milking cow toy ???? LOL !

Did anyone catch these comments on the You Tube Video?

cgaudette (2 months ago) Yes, I remember. Actually, when I was very young, my next door neighbor was one of the kids that died. How tragic it was. If you Google "Milky Toy Deaths" you will see some documented cases, including his.

DavidSilverlight (2 months ago) Actually, 21 kids died from drinking the pretend milk and eventually they removed it from the shelves.
I Googled this and didn't find squat. Sounds like an Urban Myth to me.

Seems like Kenner was trying to find a niche with kids that appealed to their extra curricular activities, like 4H and Scouting (Steve Scout and the like). But it is...odd.

A friend of mine lived next to a dairy farmer in the 80s, when he found out I bought old toys he called me over and showed me two MIB Milkys he had been given as a gift. I told him all about Goodwill...
