I think they mocked up the 12" Chewie prototype from Bigfoot, but did a whole new sculpt for the actual figure.

No, Bigfoot's arms and legs are no more poseable than Chewies. Kenner built the Cewbacca mold from Bigfoot. Only 4 points or articulation for both figures.

I had a lot of fun with these toys, especially Maskatron. Just curious, for future reference. Does Maskatron have socks?
I ended up with a pair of maskatron sneakers in a lot I won a few months ago. I had no idea what they were and almost got rid of them but now I decided to save them in case I run across one that has no shoes. Now all I need is the rest of Maskatron and I'm all set! LOL!!!

Preserving Mego history today, making Mego history tomorrow.

That Venus Space Probe looks much better as a toy than it in did in the episode on TV. It looked like such a lame opponent.

Did Bigfoot use the same arms and legs as Chewbacca?

I had the Steve with the Engine block too.
I also wanted that Bigfoot as well,
SMDM I was into at first, right around this time I got big into Kiss so I wanted Kiss stuff instead of toys for a while there, like 76 or so.
Then Star Wars hit and that was it!!!!!

One of my favorite toys as a kid. Wish I still had him. I also had Maskatron, the rocket repair station, blow-up headquarters, crystal backpack radio. Always wanted Bigfoot but never got him. I had the original release Steve, with the engine block.
Someday I will get these again.

The End of the line for the Bionic Man and Woman

1978 saw the end of Kenner's wildly popular Six Million Dollar man line. Despite dwindling sales, Kenner revamped Steve with "Bio Sonic" power and gave him a new villain to fight in the form of the Venus Space Probe.

So while Steve Austin might have been on his way out, he certainly went with a bang or at least a very loud "dun-nuh-nuh-nuh".
