I loved view-masters as a kid. My favorites were the live action Batman and the comic Batman adapted from "The Joker's Five Way Revenge". The Superman one was cool too. It looked similar to the Filmation toons, but seemed to be its own story. Of course I also had the Superman I and II movie reels. I got a big tin full of DC super hero reels for Christmas one year. I had two different styles of viewers: the squarish red and white model with the blue tab, and the curvy red model with the gold tab. I never had any of those projectors, but I did have a flashlight style projector made by View Master that worked on little cartridges.

    re

that would be side by side.

I can do this but so can you very easily. CHeck the thread in this forum I made about the land of the lost custom 3d pic. I give a link to free software in it (stereophoto maker link is here http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/stphmkr/index.html

that will input the pics I upload and you can save it to a variety of different forms of 3d and has an easy adjustment if needed

I converted one pic to an anaglyph. However I do own some early 1900 something stereo viewer for side by side pictures and I know I can print these out to work with that viewer

ok upping now-- (56 megs rared) still single pictures with both left and right parts, scanned in with a dpi of 3200

Yeah, set it up so you can get the 3D image by crossing your eyes.

I still have a bunch of viewmaster stuff (old electric lighted viewer, regular viewer, projector and the 70's and 80's talkingviewmaster)

a project that I am going to start is using my scanner (under photo) and start scanning the reels for preservation

(take it further with the program Reeltool which will take your scans and straighten them out and make then 3d if so desired)

That's weird they wouldn't make the bulb serviceable. You'd think the most common part to fail would be accessible?
Good to know though, in case someone is looking for one.
Most places I've been to will let you plug things in like that though. Did you ask to inspect it?

    It was pretty awesome though.

I have a projector one around here somewhere still. I had the talking one but sold it here on the boards. I still have about 3 or 4 of the normal handheld viewers

I never had the projector, but used to have a talking one. I still have a couple of hand-held View-Masters and a bunch of reels. Hulk, Fantastic Four, Superman, Muppets, Frankenstein, Dracula, Wolfman, Battle Beyond the Stars, KISS, Disney, Dr. Shrinker, Star Trek, Welcome Back Kotter and many more.

I never had the projector one, just the basic viewmaster. One of my favorite sets as a kid was the KISS set. I didn't have any KISS on video or anything at that point, so I used to put on my KISS Alive II 8-track tape and listen to it while looking at the pics of them through my viewmaster, I thought it was pretty great at the time!

Used to have one, but nothing as cool as Star Trek or Batman (which I do have now)

I make my own sleeves from cut envelopes. I cut the picture from the package, tape it on and write View-Master- Dora The Explorer (or whatever) on it.

That's sad...but I wasn't aware they were even making them anymore at all! I've never seen any for sale in any gift shops etc while I traveled.

It's still comforting to know that mind-numbing crap like Dora will still be "a good fit" for the company.

    Meh.
