A follow-up; I just read that "The Lone Ranger Stables" was a Sears exclusive. It mentions it on the webiste that Vortigern shared.

Red Sleeves is pretty easy to find, though his green-and-white headband can be elusive. He'll usually go for about $20 loose. El Lobo is another story: I hardly ever see him, though when I do he tends to go for $30 or $40 loose. Sheriff Tex Dawson I hardly ever see, and when I do he's the priciest of the bunch.

Is that a "for sure" about "Euro-only" items?
I see Red Sleeves, for example, on ebay all the time along with other odds & ends like the covered wagon, teepee, etc. I also saw a bunch of stuff listed recently by the same guy but I'm more into Megos so didn't bother following the auctions once the prices went past "steal it" levels.

Rob C had Banjo and the Dutch sets for sale (along with a whole bunch of stuff) a few months ago. That's when I got my Ranger, etc. I passed on Butch because Rob wasn't selling Butch's horse and I wanted them as a set. I'd be surprised if he sold everything but you never know. Might want to contact him.

Kinda little off subject but how hard are the Euro only figures ie Red Sleeves, El-Lobo and others to get a hold off?

Here's another site that catalogs the Gabriel LR line: 1973 Gabriel Lone Ranger Collection

As it turns out, I also lack the Canoe, and the four wooden playsets produced in Holland. And the green Indian shirt is missing from my Bootleggers set. Other than that, the TeePee, and Banjo the horse, I've got it all (in loose but largely near mint condition).

I think that member may have been me, unless there was another avid Gabriel LR collector that had gathered a lot of his stuff from overseas.

I really like the PS site, and I hope they continue to expand their catalog of items from this marvelous line. In fact, I may be able to help out with pics of a few of the missing items. The only figure I don't have is Dan Reid's horse Banjo, and the only sets I lack are the Indian TeePee and the horse stables. So far as I know, I have everything else in the line (most of it loose, 'cos I like to play with it! )

My wife gets annoyed when I set up my entire collection in the studio room, taking up almost every inch of space with my figures, horses, playsets and mounds of horse harness and camping equipment! Good lord, but I love nothing better than to set the 1980 animated series DVD on continuous play in the background while I ogle and fondle and pose my beloved LR figures and horses!

    Brian,

I see it now. Thanks! I must have just overlooked it the first time around. Was I wrong in saying that it was a stand-alone playset?

Little did I know so many other great items existed. I have those same 4 toys now, but I'm SO tempted to get into this line full-force. This won't help any.

That's the exact same way that I was introduced to the line and I liked it so much that I recall drooling over old Sears catalogs, at the time. I also recall the disappointment in finding out that they were no longer for sale.

By the way, a friend of mine's mother had those older Sears catalogs from the 70's back in the early 1980's. I would look at them when I'd go over to play.

And those foreign playsets look much cooler than the cardboard Casron City set.

Wasn't Taka the bird used in the Big Jim series too?

Yes, that's the same bird in the Big Jim series. Strange find indeed.

BTW: Great to see the Lone Ranger get his own gallery.

God How I loved this as a kid and even more now as an adult! I'll never forget my reaction when I got the Lone Ranger for Christmas with Silver I absolutely loved it. One of my Fondest memories. I reaquired the LR a few years back and now he sits proudly on top of my retro Radio.....

Oh this is wonderful--I still have my LR (although I need to fix the mask), Tonto, and Silver and always wanted some of the others like Little Bear, but I had not realized the full scope of the line. I guess I should head to Ebay! I had a silver mine playset as well.

I played with these along with the larger Legends of the West.

    Many, many thanks.
