Micronauts the Lost Voyages 1998

It wasn't called Microverse, but was released as this...




Commander Ranna, Marionette, and some of the other characters from Micronauts are Marvel property, but they cannot refer to them as Space Glider, Galactic Defender etc. names that were part of the toy line and licensed for use at the time of the Micronauts series. It's also why those characters have never appeared in any revivial of the Micronauts at other publishers because they are not part of the Micronauts IP.

Given that Bug doesn't look like Galactic Defender at all, and Marvel has used him in comics seemingly without needing to license from A.G.E. (at the time prior to Hasbro buying the Micronauts property), I guess there is a case to be made that he is a Marvel owned character.

From the sounds of it though, they didn't want to chance it in the MCU given that James Gunn wanted him for the Guardians of the Galaxy and was denied.

Councilman 10 from the Venture Brothers always felt like a Bug homage to me.

Well it sounds interesting, but the intro is wrong, Bug hadn't been hidden away since 1986, he had a one-shot from Marvel in 1997, a year before this "lost project"



and the reason they only did Bug was that they had already lost the Micronauts license and could only use the characters Marvel itself had created.

So color me skeptical about this.

Micronauts fans were finally given a reason to rejoice…well, they would have that is, had they known why. Bury.
