mego nine inch figures- what about re stringing?

im wondering type ones are simple, for type 2 dr mego sells replacement o rings - so what about the 9 inch flash gordon and dr who megos-

is snapping of the internal elastic a common problem? im a bit worried about completing my collection of the dr who and flash figurs for one of them to fall appart.

while im here- i used to hear of something called mego melt but i cant find any references to it on here- what is it - which figures get it and how can i stop it?
