I would say so. I noticed that myself awhile ago. Looks like him except for the mouth is sculpted differently.

I've just obtained a Palitoy Space 1999 Captain Zantor and noticed a slight similiarity in the features to Captain Kirk.

Did Mego use the Kirk sculpt as a basis?
