AJ -00 plastic Rivits + Flightsuit Question

I have a few of the rounded Type 0's as well. I didn't realize there were 2 types of plastic rivet bodies either. Learn something new every day.

I believe what Neutron-x is asking about is the difference between the two Type-0 rivets. There is the rounded wrist which looks less conspicuous and what I refer to as the 'barrel-wrist' which looks just like a Type-1 but without the metal rivets. My theory is the rounded wrist came first but was probably not as sturdy as the barrel wrist which was then reinforced further when they used metal rivets. See pics below.

I actually have both examples of this and never realized there were two versions of the Type 0 style body. Guess I never paid that close attention to it. I still think the WGSH on the Type 0 body are the rarer versions though I'm still not sure on which characters they appear. I would think any Batman or Robins found should be the RC/RM versions and I've never heard of any of those being found. I know Aquaman seems to be the one most referred to. I wonder if that is because many kids would want to play with him in the water and metal rivets would have rusted. The only one I have acquired is the Aquaman. I originally thought it was a body swap but after talking to the person I bought it from they were the original owner and had no AJ's that they could remember so it appeared to be authentic.

I found this under the WGSH in the galleries stating that the RC Bats and RM Robin as well as Superman were available on AJ bodies.
1972 Outfitting Action Jackson bodies with new heads and familiar costumes, Mego creates the World's Greatest Superheroes. The first tests were sold for Christmas at New York area 5&Dime EJ Korvetttes. The line comprised Superman, RC Batman, RM Robin and Aquaman in solid boxes.

Thanks for the pics, that was what I was asking about. I'm not sure people realize ther are 2 different plastic wrist joints. I really prefer the plastic joint as it looks more natural and was trying to figure out how rare it was.

When I was given my first type1 Mego Superman I immediatly thought it was a robot because of the metal wrist joints.

I have a bunch of those plastic rivet bodies laying around. I think they're not quite as rare as lots of folks think. I'm almost certain my first Mego (Aquaman) had these, too.

I don't think they are as rare as some say either. I get that all the time from ebay sellers. "Oh this is the RARE plastic rivet version"
I think the metal one is probably more common but the plastic are not rare at all. Now a black AJ...maybe. I do have a plastic rivet black AJ with the 'barrel wrist'.
I do prefer the plastic version, though. I think they look better especially when displaying with visible rivets like my AJ with the surfboard below.

Here's how I understand it. The early AJ body which is often referred to as the Type 0, a term coined by Abmac originally as I'm told, is the rounded rivet plastic body. Very similar to the Type 1 metal rivet body but all the joint are molded to the leg and arm pieces and simply snap together. These most commonly break at the weak mounting point of the narrow rivet to the arm or leg. They will get loose after time and to my knowledge can not be tightened by any outside means. These are commonly found on the AJ's and a few of the early WGSH. I know I have an Aquaman that came to me which is on the Type 0 from a seller that had owned it from the start so I believe it to be true. I would guess, Batman, Superman, and Robin are possible as well and I'm sure there are members here that can confirm this. I believe Benji covers it in his book as well. So I believe the rounded plastic rivet body you refer to is actually the first one to exist. The second or Type 1 body is the metal rivet body. Thin in style like the Type 0 but the joints are connected by metal rivets with a small washer on the side opposite the rivet head. Tied together with a white elastic "string". Then there is the Type 2. Much beefier than the first two and completely plastic with pins in the elbows, ankles and wrists and snap rivets in the knees. Held together with metal hooks and rubber bands that resemble dumbbells when all the extra flashing is removed. The flightsuit you refer to sounds like the one that was part of an AJ suit that was available separate from the figure. It can be found in the AJ galleries. The boxed AJ most commonly came with either a light blue nylon suit or a dark blue cotton suit. I'm sure there are others here with even more info than this but it's the basics in a nutshell.

I just watched the Megomuseum Action Jackson commercial and noticed that Action Jackson had the rarer rounded top plastic wrist joints. This wrist joint looks like the ones AHI copied for WGSMonsters. So Am I right that the second issue plastic joint is the one that looks like rivit type 1 version?

I just picked up a plastic rivit Action Jackson in grey flightsuit with brown pocket on leg and brown collar trim, rare? Another varation?
