Ah! Similar to what they used on some of the male/celebrity fashion dolls?

1975... so what did Mego use for a 12" body back then if the 12" Canadian Superhero bodies would not be tooled up until a few years later?

It's funny how they charged the same price for the cheesy quality Kromedome as they did for Steve. Maybe I'm wrong but I know my SMDMs were built pretty sturdy.

I would have wanted a Dr Kromedome for sure as a kid,I didn't even know he existed till I saw him in the Schiffer Mego book.

Ward's couldn't even get their own knockoff's name right?

I remember when Sears sold a "Super Powers Car". I couldn't understand why I didn't see it in my Kenner catalogs. They suckered me into putting it on my list, and when I got it the box read "For GI Joe, Super Powers and other 3 3/4" to 5" action figures!" or something like that. I felt totally taken.

His box reads Kromedome, it's a misprint.

I too thought the name was Kromedome.
I can't believe they actually charged the same price for both figures. The cheapy doctor should have cost about half.

    ^Me too. Weird!

I would have totally bought that he was a 100% legit SMDM villain from this ad.

Thanks man. I use to go crazy for the catalogs, or wish books as we called them back then. There was no internet coverage of toys back then. Everything came from ads, catalogs and being surprised when something new was staring you in the face in the toy aisle. I had everything pictured but Dr's Steel and Kromedome. I wish I still had all my Big Jim stuff. The Beast camper was so cool. It was like a two in one, a pick-up and a camper. I'm going to have to find out more about the American Revolution line. 8-inch cloth outfits? I can see some pretty interesting team-ups. "To the bat-poles Mr. Franklin". Oh It says the Enterprise playset had a sickbay? I don't remember that.
