I think for a "mego" flash or green lantern or my favorite choice for a "mego" figure would be Black Manta, I'd go as high as 25-30 for these without a second thought.
I'd do that for the new Khan too. I think it's cool to finally have a new figure added to the line and I'm not a star trek collector or at least I wasn't until I seen the fantastic figures at the mall at fye.

If they were released at $14.99 I'd gladly snap them up but I expect that the UK price would be £14.99(Around $30)!!!!

How much do I think they'd cost or how much am I willing to pay for them? Clearly, those are two different questions.
I think you asked the former so I'd say most likely $15.99. That is assuming they are still trying to sell these to kids. If they resigned themselves to selling to collectors (which is what it feels like EMCE is doing) then I think they could cost as much as $24.99.
For me personally, at around $10, I'd snag up a bunch. As the price went higher, I'd become less inclined to buy anything that Mego had already done.
Dave and Scott, I have to admit I have the same reaction to a mass-produced $20 Kirk or Klingon that many people do- I pass. I'd rather spend more for an original. Now I do have the Andorian. That is, until I finally score a loose original.Last edited by Wee67; Feb 14, '08, 1:15 PM.Leave a comment:

The thing I find interesting is that even though there are such a variety of figures these days, kids still love playing with Megos, I wonder if it is the cloth clothes or what?Leave a comment:

I'd pay $20 for the ones I want (and probably even more for brand new well done sculpts and characters), and I expect most of us would as well, at least if they were distributed over a period of time and not all at once. Of course that would limit the appeal to mainly adult higher end collectors and not the true market for a large distribution toy, kids and casual collectors alike.
I think that these figures would probably end up retailing below the $10 price point if done as a mass market rollout, and I think that price point could easily be supported if done right, with a common maker of Marvel and DC product, under a common product banner like WGSH. This is truly the only model I can see working well, and hopefully being extended to other popular licenses, including major movie releases and cartoon characters. Whatever the hot licenses are that could fit into the interchangeability model Mego made so popular, and toys like MiniMates has borrowed so successfully.
I would think the most likely scenario however would be someone getting the license from one of the two companies, not being able to use the WGSH banner, and ending up in the similar dreaded price point around $15.Leave a comment:

I agree - thoughts have changed on what is perceived as a good deal. I too remember all of the Secret ID repros going for 45 - 50 on ebay. If anyone thinks that a line like this would be priced below $19.99 is a bit of a dreamer. As stated Legends and DC Direct are simpler and smaller and already cost $15. To say you would pay $10 is fair but to say that is where acompany should price them doesn't make sense.Heh, it's kind of funny how now, after CTVT and EMCE, we are starting to think $15 too high for a reproduction figure. There was a day, only a couple years ago that a complete repro figure with no packaging sold for $50 easy and was considered a decent deal when you added up the cost of the parts. The cry used to be for a Romulan that didn't cost $350. Now that one is here for $15-$18, it's too much.
This isn't a rip or rag on anyone, it's just an observation on how quickly things change.
Back to the original question, I'm thinking they would cost $14.99. I can't imagine they'd be cheaper with all the accessories that have to be tooled, but perhaps. Would I buy them? I'd have to, I would need to update all the accessory check pages, so I wouldn't have much choice.
T1K is prob about right on pricing (including the 9 mo markdown)Leave a comment:

That was my point Dave. People were fussing that a new Mego figure (Khan - as an exclusive) might cost $20 when it's realeased. I mean it's a brand new figure. Not even a repro of an existing figure. I just found it ironic.Heh, it's kind of funny how now, after CTVT and EMCE, we are starting to think $15 too high for a reproduction figure. I would like to think that $10.00 each would be a sufficient price to pay for said figures. As a collector I would no doubt pay a bit more perhaps for my special wants and the level of detailing of the figure. However, I was just thinking of the kiddies sake. These days I see more grown ups shopping in the toy departments than kids. And No they are not all always shopping for their kids either. Most are collectors like us and a lot are shopping to stock up their eBay stores. I know because I have spoke with some of them. At $10.00 a pop I would believe that the company that mass produces them and the distributors and or stores that sell them could still get dirty filthy stinking rich or at least make a sufficient amount of money on them to make a pretty decent profit. Of course to hear the companies/stores explain this would be a totally different story I am sure. They always sound like they are going under all of the time until they post a huge profit at the end of the year kind of like Exxon just as an example. As far as it pertains to figures in reality a little dab of plastic imported from China does not cost a whole lot of money once the figure reaches mass production after the molds and designs are made. The majority of the profits goes to the CEO's and want to be big wigs.Leave a comment:

I'm guessing they'd probably sell for $19.99- $24.99 apiece....
Then they'd get marked down to about $9.99 after about 9 months in places like Walmart.
I'd eventually get some, but not till they hit rock bottom markdown
