I'm sure they would have to pay Ross a handsome sum of cash for the privilege. I'm sure that played into it. Sometimes it makes better business sense just do your own.

Actually, paying for an Alex Ross design was not a factor in our decision. We wanted to take a totally different approach and bring out something very fresh, but classic, that very few people had seen before. We wanted this to be different from the CastAWay prototype (although that was very good - and we sincerely appreciate everything they have done), different from our other Mego style figures, and different from our other Alex Ross Flash Gordon figure line.

Hmm, must say I preferred the prototype artwork from last year’s SDCC. But hey, the important thing is we’re getting the figures!!!! Heck, I’d buy the line if they were scotch taped to random pieces of linoleum tile...
