    Planet of the Apes Treehouse

A completely revised gallery page for the Planet of the Apes treehouse today including all known boxed variations and the releases for both Canada and Mexico. This is possibly the best known POTA toy other than the figures, it's easy to see why.

5 figures and a playset for 8.99. I'll take it. Let me know where to send my payment.

I do always like these updates, especially when it comes to APES...

Sadly, what you say here is true, THE TREEHOUSE does seem to be the most "famous" one, even though it and THE VILLAGE were released at the same time, and both were featured in the MEGO commercials (plus, I'm guessing they even sold for about the same price, so nobody could say "It is more popular because it sold more 'cause it was cheaper"...)

Don't get me wrong, THE TREEHOUSE will be an okay set once I finally decide to set down and try to customize it to look more like something from BATTLE FOR THE POTA, but even then.... I guess I just don't see it's widespead appeal... It has nothing on THE FORTRESS or THE FORBIDDEN ZONE TRAP...

I'd have to say it's my least favourite but something tells me it was the first on the scene due to it being ready made and therefore got in the majority of catalogues and the like.

That Giftset is astonishing with the wrapped figures. Mego misspelled ZERA on the box, of course. Who the heck was in charge of proofreading over there?

Ah well, makes any typos in the Museum all the more authentic.

I prefer the treehouse to the Village playset by far.

I prefer THE VILLAGE more because A) It has to do with the PLANET film, where THE TREEHOUSE doesn't, B) I do like the illustration of the city on the outside (though Lady Liberty left a lot to be desired)...

THE TREEHOUSE is lacking in anything... In the end, it's just a roof on some logs... They should have at least had sidewalls on it, one permanent, the front one also permanent but with a door, and the third wall could have been able to be removed or put downward or something to allow access to the interior (and the fourth wall would have been the back wall.) And, I know they reused everything, but it would have made more sense if they did NOT have that stupid locker and radio in there... These sets were based on the films, and nowhere in the film do you see an ape radioing headquarters... (And the APES cartoon doesn't count. That came after the films, and after the playsets were released, so they don't tie in with RETURN...)

I like the artwork on the Cipsa box, but I like seeing kids on Mego boxes. Nothing says Mego like a kid w/ a bowl cut!

Between the Village and the Treehouse, I'm a Treehouse kid. I think neither is nearly as cool as the Forbidden Zone, but the Treehouse has a lot going on, IMHO.

BTW, seeing that gift set brought back a real, authentic rush of pure, kid-like I-gotta-have-that! Man that looks like one sweet uber toy. Can you imagine cracking that open on Christmas morning. It has it all! I mean, no worring about having to get figures to go with your new playset. Sure if you only got the playset, Mom would have told Grandma to pick up Corneilus and maybe even an Ursus, but with the gift set you got it all.

Cut to school that following week-

"So what did you get for Christmas kid who always seems to get really cool stuff?"
"I got a brand new Huffy AND and 2 SSP cars."
"Yeah, weall I got the MEgo Planet of the Apes Treehouse that comes with ALL the figures! Yeah, that's what I said beeyotch! All of 'em"
