That shuttle pic is cool. They did sell these in Canada...or at least they sold one that I know of. Wish I had pics of it now.

I wonder if a second wave of figures was ever in the pipeline?

I always thought she looked better without hair!

I agree with you there. The Trek line (at least the 3 3/4" line) had some of Megos best likenesses going on. Funny that the 12" line didnt have tighter sculpts. Kirk looked off, and Spock always looked like he smelt something bad. Another one of Scotty's "vapor attacks" in the turbolift !

Another question I have about the uniforms...how come Ilea was wearing blue...which was for senior officers only? She should have been in a tan suit like Uhura, Chekov, and Sulu. I guess they thought she would have looked naked in tan, being hairless and all??

When I first saw it, I thought she was wearing that funky headress thing Chapel gave her to wear in the film...but if you blow up the pic you can see its painted on. I read somewhere that Michael eisner was really freaked out about Ilea being bald, and requested (ordered) the producers to come up with alternatives. This was one of them.
Ultimately of course, they went with bald. Makes you wonder about some of the other alternatives though!?

I didn't even notice that ... at first glance I thought it was a hat

Note McCoys somewhat altered white med outfit, Spock with no collar, and Kirks captain uniform with epaulets. Luckily, Mego added Spocks collar, but I'm convinced they made Decker, and Kirks uniforms based on this picture (even though they decided to use the admiral coloring for Kirks figure..he is wearing this preproduction captains suit. McCoys white top might have come from his sick bay uniform?

Actually, if I was serving on the Enterprise i'd much rather wear the motion picture outfits then the newer red uniforms -- WOK+++

Those red suits look nice on screen but on that hot ship everybody would stink after a few hours because they're too heavy for regular duty

No that's cool, the movie uniforms are as drab as they come and if Mego made tweaks, it's entirely forgivable.

Both Mattel and Mego did the same with the Space:1999 uniforms and Kenner gave a lot of Star Wars guys some colour as well. They're toys not statues, I love that about them.

TO be fair to Mego, TMP promo pictures feature the actors in a lot of costumes that werent used on screen. Mego probably designed the figures off of the early promo and publicity pics that were available. They also may have wanted to add some "spice" to what ended up being some pretty drab looking outfits?
