I've received both priority and airmail, they both take the same amount of time imho which is a little over one week. interesting follow up to the $33 shipping quote is when asked, the quote came down to $25 or $10 standard airmail.

Ok, how much does it really cost to ship to the UK?

Priority mail and air mail both travel by air outside the U.S.
Air mail collects at the airport until the bin is full so the time
of delivery can vary greatly if no one else is shipping to that
country via air mail. The reality is that customers report
that in Europe, it takes about a week to reach them.
Priority mail international is supposed to go out on the next
plane to that country, but I have been told by postal workers
that it too sits at the airport for a day or two.Leave a comment:

I can't count the number of items any more that I was interested in on eBay, but passed on because of the high shipping price. It's really sad that a few scammers have ruined it for all the other European buyers.
If I really really want an item I ask the seller if he'll ship to a US address and I ask a member here if he'll then ship it to me, but it's a shame it has to be that wayLeave a comment:

I ship everything to the UK and overseas via Global Express which is atleast $35 and up... Got burned with PayPal chargebacks a few times there (apparantly the Royal Mail is notorius for losing packages) so now it's all trackable online... I have made a few exceptions here with members I have dealt with and trust... Paypal requires online tracking and no the customs label scan doesn't count...Leave a comment:

Unfortunately there are still those people who are quite happy to rip you off on shipping.
I've found several listings for an item i've been looking for on ebay, all are in the USA and quote the same shipping service but the prices range from $9.99 up to a staggering $45!!Leave a comment:

For ebay sales, when I used to ship international ....
The countries I had shipped items to was ....
United Kingdom
Ireland
Canada
Thailand
Japan
Israel
Germany
Italy
France
Netherlands - (Holland)
Brazil
Australia
Argentina
Out of the above list the only countries I ever troubles with was Canada and Israel... who complained the shipping was too high.
I hate to say it, but Canada was the worst for complaining about shipping prices.
Like 50% of all my Canadian buyers would complain.
At one time I tried to find a way to block bids from Canada but not the rest of the world
The other countries paid the shipping and everything went fine.
England and Japan was by the far the best of the best.
Never even the slightest prob with them 2.Last edited by Mikey; Apr 5, '09, 1:49 PM.Leave a comment:

Very true, the seller doesn't pay for it.Yeah, but you don't pay it do you. The buyer has to pay the increased postage.
When I send from the UK I am quite happy to use regular airmail. We have a service here called `proof of posting`. It's a free option and basically if anything goes wrong you have proof for paypal purposes that the item was sent. It covers you to 100x the price of a first class stamp.
I must admit that it bugs me a little to sit here and read so much negativity about sending items abroad, although I have to admit that when I sell stuff i'd rather see it go the the US, Canada or Australia, rather than France. All my problems have been with selling to France.
But the seller also has to take all the abuse from people who think they are being ripped off on postage costs. And jump through all the hoops required when a buyer balks at a deal and doesn't pay.
So, for a lot of sellers, it just isn't worth the hastle to deal with it.
Personally, I am happy to sell to almost anywhere in the world.
I have shipped to all kinds of countries without any problems at all.
Though most were from my website sales, as I hardly ever even bother with ebay.Leave a comment:

Good point.All very true.
I know as I use it all the time as well.
You just have to be sure to realize that you have ZERO PayPal protection when you use it.
All the buyer has to do is open an 'item not received' complaint, and PayPal will give them their money back. As you have no way to prove it was delivered.
So, when selling on ebay to complete strangers, it's not worth the risk on anything of any value.
I've been lucky so far.Leave a comment:

you nailed it on the head there t1K !! it's the post office that charges the rates. buyers think i'm trying to jack them on shipping!!I had a guy in Israel ask if he could bid on one of my loose Hasbro wrestling figures.
I told him sure, but I ship Priority International with Insurance, so before he bids he should take that into consideration -- it will be expensive.
He bid -- and one.
I got him an exact shipping price ...
It was like $23.00
He refused to pay saying I was ripping him off.
That was one of my last international sales on ebay.
It pushed me over the edge to domestic shipping only.
I get enough business from the USA.
I don't miss not shipping international.
Less headaches

All very true.Priority Mail overseas is waaaaaaay too expensive.
Whe I ship to Europe for example...I offer the buyer First Class International...it's only a third of the price of Priority International...the shipping is almost as fast too.
I've done that dozens of times...and never had a lost package to date.
First Class International is the way to go.
I know as I use it all the time as well.
