Other than the Trek crew, he's the only mego fig I remember having as a little kid. I wonder if he was a gift, or I picked him out myself.. probably the latter, since he's so flame-boyant..Leave a comment:

I was a big FF fan when I was a kid, so I was thrilled when I first saw Mego's FF figures on the shelves. I bought a Torch shortly after I picked up the Thing and Mr. Fantastic (unfortunately all three of these childhood figures are long gone now). I know that some people think the figure is rather poorly executed, but I still really like him.Leave a comment:

He was one of those figures that I knew if I was patient I could get at a good price. In the end I got three from France in one lot for £3.00 (about $6.00). I guess I got lucky.
Later I also got a Harbert stickered US carded Torch on a BIN in fantastic condition which Dan kindly offered considerably more than what I paid for him less than 12 hours later. If Dan is interested you know you have a good one on your hands.
So I guess my main memory of The Human Torch lies in the bottom of my wallet - He is still a great figure though.Leave a comment:

Yes, the artwork's the best rendition of the Torch! It's Magnificent, and was super when it was used as an alternate header for the FF comics during the mid-70s.
ScottA, WHAT a story ~ Wish we all had done the same in the mid-80s... I'll most likely sell some of my C/A items and invest in the boxed foursome one of these days..!Leave a comment:

Sweet. Torch was one of the few I had as a kid. I got him at Christmas along with Shazam and Mxy (I have a picture of them somewhere). I don't remember ever seeing the FF in stores. Fast forward to college around '85-'86 and a classmate tells me he's seen the FF in Lionel Playworld in ATL. A quick weekend trip and I picked up the rest of the FF. All 4 are in my display case now. I think that purchase started me down the road to collecting Megos full time.Leave a comment:

He mesmerized me as a kid. Something about the design of the character.Leave a comment:

Maybe not the best design, but I really like the torch. Never had him as a kid, I think I had moved on to other toys, like star wars figures, by the time he was released.
But because he and Spidey are so easy to find on french cards, they were my first two WGSH when I began collecting as an adult.
He would have made a great alter-ego, in flame-off mode, had the line continued.

Is Torchies head a retooled Thor ?
I always thought he resembled Thor a bit.Leave a comment:

He always looked to me like a guy in Torch pajamas pretending to be the TorchLeave a comment:

Never had him as a kid, but I wanted him badly. He was my favorite FF member then (and pretty much now) and his drawing on the back of the Marvel cards beckoned me. I actually had my mom cut it out so I could play with it, and put him with my Megos.
Oddly enough, it took me a while to get a Torch when I seriously started collecting Megos. The flame patter is very odd, considering they could have done some random yellow flame patches and vertical lines to indicate flames and be more comic-accurate. But it kind of works. Really like his head, esp. when it's not graying!

Had him, Mr. F and the Thing as a kid. I always thought he was pretty cool even though the suit was corny. The Torch is a must have in any Mego WGSH collection.Leave a comment:
